I'm 20 years old
Who is Neil Young?

>why don't all artists do this?
Because not all artists need dumb PR stunts to remind people that they are alive

Based Young

I think you know why.

you are the worst poster on this board

please have a tripname so I can filter your dumb opinions

Why does a man who is almost deaf from tinnitus care so much about sound quality?

>by Alex Young
nepotism/10

because he cares about you user, it's for your listening pleasure not his.

>offering high-quality art for free as a gift to posterity
>PR stunt (Neil Young !)
You don’t deserve The Art.

For a long time Neil didn't allow his stuff on Spotify. Mainly because he doesn't support the company treating musicians so poorly and barely giving them any of the profits. So he decides to release them all for free himself instead. Dude is amazing.

for a while his only album on spotify was Trans. based Neil

SAILING HEART-SHIPS THROUGH
BROKEN HARBOURS

TIN SOLDIERS AND NIXON'S COMING
WE'RE FINALLY ON OUR OWN
THIS SUMMER I HEAR THE DRUMMING
FOUR DEAD IN OHIO

Just picked up his album "Harvest Moon" on record store day the other day. Really incredible album, it's sort of a sequel to Harvest but released in 1992. Honestly I like it more then Harvest.

Most artists lack the resources or backlog necessary to have a streaming platform dedicated exclusively to their own music

>banned

>you have to read a long-ass PR letter first that takes 5 mn to understand (without mentioning that even if you have crappy speakers, listening to FLAC-tier audio is pointless)
>then a tutorial video for 9 minutes
>then get lost in a website designed by 90's standard
t-thanks granddad

meh, very underwhelming: too much country, not enough rock. It's closer to Comes A Time IMHO.

>not respecting grandpa neil giving you free access to his entire musical archive

I love his folky stuff. I love his rockin' stuff also. But the softer side of him is very nice.

kys

I wish Bob Dylan would tear a leaf from his book, what a fucking greedy bastard.

It's all free until June

the website is actually really cool

leave

one of the worst designed products i've ever seen

guys..... I swear that I can't hear a difference between the "Master" version from the "320kbps" version :S

>being an earlet
lad

>music player designed for high quality digital playback
>file names in the screenshot seem to suggest they’re 192kbps
Hearty kek

Most people can’t unless you’re a sound engineer. I still download in flac and convert it to 320 myself because I’ve been burned by too many mp3 downloads that were encoded shitty.

lol, I didn't notice that. Sort of weird filenames for a promotional picture.

holy shill batman

is ok when neil does but not when u2 does.

there's a u2 archive?

Because no one gives two shits about Neil Young.

Releasing a free album to advertise Apple is not the same thing as releasing your discography for free so no one gets the rights to make money off it.

butthurt samefag detected

Yeah really, Neil is old, no one likes old people. Lil Peep is what's cool now.

Because most artist don't own their music
Because he's old and has made his fortune so why not?
Because he has to remind people that he's still alive
Because his music sucks.

You can already listen to, virtually, any artist in YouTube or Spotify.

no Bob Dylan archives
no The Beatles archives
no The Beach Boys archives
why even live ;__;

effective bait, every single reply is a biter

we might see a dylan site in the future. they've moved all his shit to a physical archive in tulsa and it's in the process of getting digitized. the few items they've teased is enough to drive any dylan fan mad with curiosity

with the customary record business dying its prolonged death a bob dylan archive probably isn't too far off, especially if you take into account the scope of the recent bootleg series. plus all of his music is on the same label, which makes things a whole lot easier. his ascension to nobel laureate could nudge things in the right direction as well

i could also easily see apple jumping on an opportunity for a similar beatles endeavour since they're hell-bent on keeping the fab four in the collective imagination by any means necessary

No shit Sherlock

Where do I start with him?

the compilation album decade

then his '70s output in chronological order

FLAC MEGA links when

it's 192kHz 24bit, an uncommon but persistent high-quality audio standard

320 rips of the archive fucking when

fucking why

If Fripp dies and doesn't do this I swear I will take a shit on his grave
