if you want a comfortable life. with beautiful nature, pretty decent freedoms and are generally indifferent to big cities, then anywhere within an hour or two of the Canadian border (minus detroit and buffalo) is your optimal comfy place
however, if big city life is for you and you need it for employment, then just find the economic hubs with least gang activity and lowest crime rates
