Sup faggot what's your favorite Tom Waits album?

Sup faggot what's your favorite Tom Waits album?

He's a good singer

Its Blue Valentine no question

dare to be stupid

The Black Rider

I want to say Heart of Saturday Night, but my heart says Rain Dogs.

I'm not a big Tom Waits fan but it's easily Blood Money due to it being my first, and fitting the blogpost mood perfectly:

>be in college and getting up to shenanigans with friends
>we go urban exploring and try to see about some abandoned mental hospital
>we literally have George Lucas' niece in tow
>it doesn't really go anywhere but we hear dogs in the distance and we get spooked so we hightail it back to the car and drive the hour+ back into the city at night
>The first half of Blood Money plays, especially "God's away on business", which on my first listen I take to be "concentrate on business", the houses and lights go rushing by
>then in the city it changes to Stem/Long Stem which I hear for the first time in my life

That was a good night, just riding in that car.

Real Gone

this, except the no-question part

what do you mean by "my heart says" if you don't mean "what I really want to say?"

Didn't the Rolling Stones write a song about him?

You know, "Tom Waits for No One"?

bone machine

Does he actually make good music? Everyone who says they like him seem to be people who try way too hard to be cool, so I always figured they were just lying to seem cool. The few songs I've heard from him were far from impressive.

One of the best songwriters of all time

If you want experimental rock/blues listen to Rain Dogs, if you want folk listen to Closing Time

rain dogs or bonemachine

Swordfishtrombones or Mule Variations

Seconding this

1. Swordfishtrombones
2. Bone Machine

POWER GAP

3. Franks Wild Years
4. Small Change
5. Rain Dogs
6. Orphans
7. Nighthawks at the Diner

There's good songs spotted throughout the rest of the discography but no other albums worth giving a shit about and some that are downright fucking awful (One from the Heart, Heart of Saturday Night, Foreign Affairs, Heartattack and Vine, etc.)

I used to listen to Tom Waits A LOT, my left leg below the knee is completely covered in Tom Waits lyrics

Boring answer but my favorite is Rain Dogs.

THIS

sounds really comfy

Fav lyrics from said album? Mine's

>Cause there's nothin' strange about an axe with bloodstains in barn
>There's always some killin' you got to do around the farm

Bad as Me or Blood Money

>But there's one thing you can't lose
>And it's that feel

>DON'T GO INTO THAT BAAAARN YEAAAH!
>HUH
>HA
>HUH HA

rain dogs

Bone Machine

Rain Dogs > Swordfishtrombones > Bone Machine > Closing Time > Small Change > Mule Variations > Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers & Bastards
That all that I've listened too but all the ones I have heard are good.

Listen to Franks Wild Years asap. You will like it. It is similar to Raindogs and Swordfishtrombones.

Will do when I get home.

>One from the Heart
>Awful

Pre-Swordfish Trombone ranking:
1. Blue Valentine
2. Small Change
3. Heart of Saturday Night
4. Foreign Affair
5. Nighthawks at the Diner
6. Heartattack and Vine
7 Closing Time

PSA: My favorite is Foreign Affair and also the One From the Heart soundtrack is fucking great.

listening to Invitation to Blues right now, and there's a Tom Waits thread. is this what fate is?

How can a tom waits fan have 1 favorite?
