Hello posters of Sup Forums, 2016 is nearly over, what are your favourite movies you've seen this year so far?

>Cosmos

Can someone explain to me what the fuck that movie was about?

I think it's about the disparate ways in which people tend to perceive things.

Fucking plebeian taste. I've heard of at least 75% of those films. Try again.

Batman vs Superman: Dawn of capekino

Have you seen any though?

Yes, I have seen half. Your taste is pedestrian.

Feels bad.

Arrival
Childhood of A Leader
The Neon Demon
The Family Fang
Nocturnal Animals

I haven't seen Linklater's newest film. And La La Land and Live By Night are still on the horizon

ugh those are all mainstream flicks

*rolls eyes*

I've been meaning to check out Childhood of A Leader is it actually good or just another one of these borderline arthouse burger movies where they mask the general lack of creativity and inspiration by making it super dull and boring?

does anyone know what any gombrowicz is really about

It's actually really good. It's slow-paced though

this would make me laugh more if there weren't so many people (on this board too) that genuinely felt this way

True desu, but I didn't necessarily feel that the movie preserved that particular style of the novel all that well.

monitoring this thread for bans

i haven't seen it yet. i don't really think he's filmable, though i know people have tried. i can imagine zulawski is as good a choice as anyone, but i don't really have much hope, especially having read about the changes he made.

What is River of Fundament like?

no its ok soloth

Honestly if you don't come in expecting something exactly like the novel, you will probably enjoy it. To say that it relied very heavily on this inner monologue type of narration would be an understatement, and obviously it's nearly impossible to translate it to the film medium. But as far as the changes were concerned, aside from the ending and the fact that the movie takes place in France and not the Polish mountains, I don't recall noticing any.

In fact it's really surprisingly entertaining and meme'y with many various nods to people who have read the book.

Can you please explain why you enjoyed Moonlight? I thought it was just okay

I don't think it's possible to put it in words.

idk why i thought he changed more than that, but i'll check it out this week regardless. i do love gombrowicz and zulawski, so hopefully the marriage of the two won't disappoint.

No particular order:

The Nice Guys
Arrival
Star Trek Beyond
Kubo and the Two Strings
10 Cloverfield Ln
Doctor Strange
Civil War and Deadpool were """"fun""""

I haven't watched anything "challenging" in a while. Probably because of depression and anxiety.

I hope you feel better soon user.

Thanks. I've just started to realize in the past few days, especially after a panic attack, what the root of all of my other problems is.

That's great, I'm sure you will learn how to tackle it too.

>Kubo and the Shitty Plot
>Star Trek Beyond Unwatchable
Fucking pleb

Yeah La Mort de... was pretty impressive, though not what i expected from Serra but still visually its incredible.
Cemetery was amazing.
Cosmos was great too.
hmm Academia de musas had nothing of what I love from Guerin's work
oh and is that homo sapiens? that was good too

...

It's very similar to The white ribbon, I like it a lot. anything similar to that?

Yes it is.

I don't think I've seen any of Guerin's documentaries beside this one. Even if I didn't really agree with pretty much any of the points of the professor guy (I don't think Guerin was necessarily affirming them either) I really interesting. Fairly intellectually stimulating because of how equivocal it was.

bridget jones' baby
absolutely fabulous: the movie
end of a gun
the perfect weapon
killing salazar
code of honour
the asian connection
sniper: special ops
dirty grandpa
the choice

this was my post at the last thread but everything chance since I see " the alchemist cookbook" that would be my favourite now.

what website?

No men beyond this point looks great, will check that out, thanks!

Trakt.TV

Could someone name all of those?

all i've seen that's good

god what a fucking pretentious list.

Names are in the pastebin link in the right corner.

Thanks, I didn't see it since I didn't open the image.

:^)

could you name these? I only recognize Cemetery of Splendour and Homo Sapiens

See the pastebin

...

...

You can't be serious.

Yeah I guess it could be appreciated for the possible discurse it opens with the viewer, but still, felt like a lesser work of his.

I think my favorites from this year would be
John From
La mort de Louis XIV
Cemetery Of Splendor
Cosmos
Behemoth
Evolution
Moses Und Aron
No Home Movie

and idk, haven't seen much this year, but my least favorite film of the year is The Brand New Testament that shit sucked
I want to see After the Storm before the year ends but idk

it won the palme d'or butthurt polcuck

>cannes
kek

After the storm was pure comfiness, nothing flashy but still a very pleasant watch. Made me want to check out more Koreeda, which I admittedly still didn't get around to.

I don't have very strong feelings about The Brand New Testament, I didn't find it particularly good but it definitely wasn't offensively bad either. Plus, the director seemed like a really cool guy.

lol

did any of you watch the new Dardenne bros?

I'm sure that award has been tainted by now.

2002 The Pianist Pianista Roman Polanski

oh yeah lol

>not a single mention of Zootopia

Faggots, the lot of you. How can you turn a blind eye to animationkino?

The Pianist was an incredible film, shit taste.

Zootopia has spawned some top tier furry porn, I'll give it that, but the movie itself wasn't that amazing.

Well Kore-eda has been one of my favorite directors for a lot of years now, and it's kind of weird my local cinematheque isn't showing After the Storm when they had Our Little Sister just a few months after it released, but still hope I can watch it before the year ends.

I thought the humor in The Brand New Testament was family guy tier, and the visual gags made it for me painful to watch, I'm not even religious or anything like that but it was just unfunny, also I think i really hate it because the girl I went with wouldn't let me leave the theater.

2004 Fahrenheit 9/11 Michael Moore

Here's a (You) tsar, I hope you feel better now

this thread is for good movies

That's probably around the time when they started giving out the awards to films with a palatable political agenda.

But all the technology was incredible. The acting wasn't bad either! Overall the best Disney has done since Frozen tbqh.

thank you so much, friend

word up

I haven't seen it yet, that's why i'm asking

Out of all the winners you chose one of the best films from this century. Just because your a holocaust denier doesn't mean it's a shit film.

>No Kaili Blues
plebs

I don't really recall any of the jokes by now, I think some were chuckle worthy, but overall I find that unless they are really offensively bad you can stomach a lot if you are watching something in a screening room full of laughing people.

Generally I liked the whole 'nu-male' as most people on this Sup Forums infested board would call it message of the movie, and that scene with a dancing hand and Handel playing in the background was pretty nice too.

the witch and the lobster are both 2015 films

only if you're going by festival release date, which I don't.

Biggest disappointment: Suicide Squad

Biggest overperformer: Fantastic Beasts

Best film of the year: BFG and Swiss Army Man

pppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

?

"?"

?

Does the second season of Star Vs The forces of evil counts?

special snowflake

they said movies, but it is turning out really good, way better than most of season 1.

you are welcome! it's a really fun mockumentarie. I just watch Indignation and was really good too, I have a soft spot for romantic dramas
