Is there anything else in terms of dark/fucked up movies to come out in the last 5 years or should i just keep watching Heaven Knows What over and over?

Dark and fucked up?

Have you watched Neon Demon, my friend? :^)

some real lolita shit

not really

Oslo, 31. august

hey cool i haven't heard of this, will check it out. thank you

Dancer In the Dark and Dogville

i was talking about films released in the last 5 years but i have been putting off dancer in the dark for a long time.

heaven knows what is not dark and fucked up, just a little miserable

is that it? i mean i knew this film was amazing but no ones seen anything close to as good as it?

What are you looking for, just other drug addiction movies? "dark and fucked up" makes it sound like you're looking for horror or something.

just watched it yesterday, completely unexpected user. good watch

here you are lad

a lot is romance but you should check out you won't miss me, dance party usa, and yeast

I havn't been really watching films thats been release in 5 years so I'm getting blank there but Dancer is bleak as hell.

Watch pic related

this film did an amazing job with addiction and the lifestyle behind it so i guess i would be looking for that or by extension other dark life style movies. and i saw it more fucked up as in Julien-Donkey Boy than I did Salo or Cannibal Holocaust. So I guess nihilistic or misanthropic films, or films that have a heavy sense of realism. I was also a huge fan of the soundtrack in Heaven Knows What with the Isao Tomita covers of Debussy and their use of James Dashow's Oedipus Orca, to their black metal choices. I hope that helps and I can clarify more if you need me to. I'm also very into Korrine, Clark, Cassavettes, Dennis Hopper (especially Out Of The Blue). related to out of the blue i would also put Monster and Boys Don't Cry as films that I enjoyed a large amount

cool, i've seen a good amount of these but the ones you mentioned i somehow havent so i will do that. much appreciated

np laddio
there's a looot of movies there that you might like, hard to say without knowing more about what you are into, and some of them might surprise you with their approach to their subject

heaven knows what is a great movie
what apart from the darkness appealed to you? themes of addiction? doomed romance? general degeneracy? the style of filming? (if you like the filming style, are you familiar with mumblecore?)

also frownland and momma's man are proper neetcore

bad fever probably up your alley as well

well i mean if you want the long answer of why it appealed to me is because it was a combination of a lot of things involved with my taste in film and the familiarity and personal closeness with it. I myself lived/live a life and so did other friends and family close to me that was so similar to the life of Arielle Holmes and the rest of the cast. It was executed with such precision yet total freedom. But outside of me relating to the cast and subject matter I am a fan of the doomed romance. I actually just saw Badlands and Freeway again recently and enjoyed both. General degeneracy for sure. Gummo is my all time favorite movie and I don't think any other piece of art across any medium influenced me more. and yeah definitely familiar with mumblecore. sometimes it can get a little to stale and yuppie for me, idk i like a lot of aspects of it but i havent been floored by what ive seen so far but ill watch the ones you recommended. i probably prefer it a step further in the dogme 95 category. the ultra raw style can work so well with certain material and cast. The Idiots by Lars Von Trier was great. Thanks for those other ones too! this has been a lot of fun talking to you

>out of the blue
you are based af
if you are socially conservative you should try anne of green gables

I LOVE out of the blue. i watched it so many times. linda manz is fucking amazing.

you are the man
>The Idiots by Lars Von Trier was great
lvt is my fave director, he really understands this innate drive toward degeneracy and deviancy

after i saw out of the blue and read about it i discovered that chloe actually wears the same elvis jacket that cb wears in ootb in it. been meaning to watch it, will definitely do so soon after you saying it's your fave of all time.

mate, do you have letterboxd? or, i'm not being funny, but do you have skype or anything? you seem great and i'd like to maybe bring you into some of the film circles i'm in. you don't have to post your skype, i'll post mine.

meaning chloe sevigny wears cb's jacket in gummo

or if you can into irc i'm also there

nah im really glad you said that and i wasnt the only one thinking of asking that haha. i dont have skype! i really need to get one, i dont have a letterboxd either. im guessing you dont have a tastekid?

and thats sick about chloe, i didnt know that. it makes so much sense, i think the movies both have a similar style in a way

i just made a letterbox'd

yeah man, i haven't seen gummo but apparently chloe wears that elvis jacket that cb has on. i can only imagine that gummo is in part an homage to ootb

link your lb and i'll follow you. letterboxd has zero communication though, it's so annoying. you can make lists which people can comment on so i made one specifically for that. you could do that and we could chat. otherwise, you wanna make a skype, too? lol. or even an email for the time being.

sorry for being super forward but you seem great. i'm not gay. you just may fit in with some really cool people. what country do you live in?

both me haha. yeah sweet, not gay either and no worries, i'd like to continue talking as well. my letterbox'd is elishukman (not my real name)

and thanks. sort of coming out of a long period of shit and was told i was being masochistic and selfish if i didnt let people in more so this is actually really helpful. and i live in the states

Here you go man. The best junkie film. Checks all your boxes.

>Checks all your boxes.

Besides being recent, that is. But it checks all the others.

yeah this definitely looks like something i want to watch, thank you

alright mate i've followed you. you should make a list to we have a way to communicate there.

i'd like to hear more about this mate. you seem sound as fuck, i think we could talk about your real life shit if you wanted. i'm interested in what you are talking about and think i can relate in some respects.

it would be great if you could sort out a skype, then we could talk, that's where i socialise most and is also where the 'film people' you might get on with are

so, make a list on lb so i can chat to you there or post a skype here

i'd love to tell you but the thought of pleb foreigners like thor and tsar watching them makes me sick

oo user did i rubbish your favourite movie sometime? get a grip

yeah ill try to get a skype going within the next couple days and ill throw it up there. in the meantime i made a list

posted on it lad. you give me your skype when you got it and we'll see! could be the beginnings of a fruitful friendship.

for real though, you seem great, and while not being in the same place as me in your life i think we could talk about that shit, i've done it man. and you'd love the people i talk to. so seriously, let's sort out the skype alright and chat later

i'm going to bed (i'm uk)
post your skype on your list whenever you got it
i'll see it by email or otherwise. then we can chat.

take care mate, hope to speak to you soon
