>France's biggest rock star Johnny Hallyday has died from lung cancer, his wife says. He was 74.
>The singer - real name Jean-Philippe Smet - sold about 100 million records and starred in a number of films.
>He was made a Chevalier of the Legion D'Honneur by President Jacques Chirac in 1997.
>The French have simply called him "Our Johnny". However, outside the Francophone zone, Hallyday was almost unknown.
RIP Johnny Hallyday

I don't know about "unknown." I've heard of him in the US, though I couldn't really name his songs.

what is wrong with his EYES

Who has run on this beach?
It must have been very pretty
Was its sand white?
Were there yellow flowers
In the hole of every dune?
I would have liked to touch sand
Once between my fingers
Who has swum in this river?
You claim that it was fresh
And flowed down from the mountain
Were there pebbles
In the hole of every waterfall?
I would have liked to plunge my body
Once in a river
Come on, tell me no more lies
Show me pictures to see
If all of this really existed
You claim
That there was sand
And grass
And flowers
And water
And rocks
And trees
And birds
Come on, don't mock me
Who has walked in this trail?
You say that it lead to a house
And that there were children playing around?
Are you sure the photo wasn't faked?
You can ensure me that this really existed?
Do tell, come on, stop lying to me
I need to touch and see to believe
Really it's real?
The sand was white?
Really it's real?
There were children
Rivers
Trails
Rocks
Houses?
It's real?
It really existed?
It really existed?
Really?

Merci, Johnny!
Don't bother, his music is absolute drivel. What he does is the equivalent of FM pop country in America. He is the epitome of tackiness, the king of the "beaufs" (French white trash).

JE PISSE SUR TA TOMBE JAUNI!
SALE FAUX ROCKEUR EN PLASTOC DE MES DEUX

I recommend that you don't listen to anything by him, he's the stereotypical overrated dadrocker who never came up with a decent riff in his career. Basically an older version of Nickelback.
he's absolutely right.
Beauf as fuck. It doesn't get more pleb in France than liking Johnny.
Eddy >>>>>>> Jauni
The Hamlet double LP is pretty unbelievable, there are a few really cool oddities in his discography to make up for the FM drivel imo.
RIP Johnny

What's the difference?
I don't get why you are so upset about this hack. Yes, everything he did was pure shit but so is everything you can hear on French radio/TV.
Mainstream French "culture" is horrendous and beyond saving, the only sensible option you have (which I took long time ago) is just to ignore it and forget it even exists.
Dominated by jewish "singers" and foreigners
>every french tv is doing a special segment about this
How am I supposed to watch Motus
mo mo motus
I'm not even an antisemite, but yeah, it's stunning to see how many kikes we have in the entertainment industry.
Pleb trash, don't bother. There's a reason you've never heard of this so called "rock star".
mes négros
Most of them are sephardi and come from north africa post-colonisation
it's funny to see them rooting for "muh anti-racism and open borders" while their ancestors were 100% pro-colonisation and in favor of a french algeria
if you go back further in time, they also financed slavery
t. Anorexia Nervosa
Yes, I used to think many of them were arabs because of their names, but no, they actually are jews.
Do you know why there was so many jews living in north africa by any chance?
As I said, they were landlords, they owned businesses and were prominent during the colonisation of north africa. When those countries became independant they moved to France (or Israel for some)
but a lot of them also moved to north africa to escape from the nazis in the 40's
but their real origin comes from the fact that they were expelled by everyone in Europe, they moved to north africa and southern spain (I guess everyone around the world - including isolated civilizations - was antisemitic for millenias....nothing to do with their behavior)
Even if I didn't especially like him, it feels so weird to know he's dead, for some reason he always looked so immortal.
As many pleb tier """"artists"""" in France, their death is an extra reason to make money.
For non-frenches, basically this is how french TV looks like :
- no metal
- no electronic
- almost no hip-hop
- shit musics about cultural diversity sung by children
- nigger tier music about "muh dick in white chicks ooga booga"
Keep in mind he's not a songwriter. Most of his songs were written by ghost writers who sometimes didn't even bother doing something original. Instead, they adapted some english songs in french ("Le Pénitencier" = "House of the Rising Sun"). Partly beacuse of this, finding a good album of his might be like finding a needle in a haystack. I'd say "Rivière... ouvre ton lit" is his most interesting album, similar to Led Zeppelin.
Why would you even watch Motus anyway
Hello from Switzerland

Ma mère l'écoute. RIP
The guy really helped to bring rock'n roll to my moronic homeland.
Check these awesome cover of the Animals
youtube.com
He also brought Jimi Hendrix to one of his tour in 1966. Without him, Jimi would never have played in France.
I didn't even liked him, but I'm still kind of sad he's gone.
He was always around since I'm was born and he had some nostalgic value to him.
There is no one like him in the french musical landscape anymore.
>"Johnny hommage" during malcolm in the middle
:(
And check his early live. The guy truly deserve his title of "french Elvis", the show also got influence from James Brown in my opinion. youtu.be
Sure his late work isn't remarkable, but he never fell off for disco in the 80s, or hiphop in 90s or dubstep. The guy was here to rock.
The negative side was is fanbase, full of redneck and cheap doppelganger. You can find these kind of [pic related] in every shitstore in France. But it also prove the huge charisma of the guy on the masses.
I prefer his wife
youtube.com
Sorry friend, you are a few wives late.
>go to any slightly touristy area in France

His ex-ex-ex-ex-ex wife
Hendrix opened for him in the late 60s. That is insane.

Recently, I came across some renaud old school song without knowing it and honestly it wasn't bad at all.
Renaud is a sellout
who?
I'm sorry but no.
Is that movie worth checking out or is it a piece shit ?
It's not a masterpiece but it's nice.
It's a french movie.
I meant to post this, good taste user. This is definitely one of the weirdest (in a good way) album I've ever heard.
F
He was one of the pillars of french beauf culture. If Patrick Sébastien dies next then beaufs wouldn't recover.
I think I will drink in a PMU tonight to pay my homage 'en bonne et due forme'
Rest In Pastis
one of the few if not the only musician who was involed in france politics and never been affraid to tell he was right winger
Come on, he was just a centrist who supported whoever made him pay less taxes, like everyone else in the Parisian gratin who supported Sarkozy in 2008 : David Guetta, Michel Sardou, Doc Gynéco, Gilbert Montagné, Jean-Michel Jarre, etc
He said people who voted for the FN are crazy, he was not a hardcore libertarian reading Hayek or whatever, just a rich guy who wanted to keep more money from his earnings and tried to move them to Belgium and Switzerland. He probably didn't care much about anything else.
>a guy that only wants to pay less taxes is right winger
Color me surprised.
