Seriously, it's so good. I've heard it so many times and still blows me away on every listen. I'm no techno newfag either, I've heard my fair share of records. But I somehow always return to this one, nothing quite like it.

Is Xtal by AFX the best techno track ever made or what?

What makes it a stand-out in the genre?
no but its up there
good tune user
this so much
excellent music video too
youtube.com
digeridoo is better
you listen to nothing but warp artists and the occasional p4k approved bleeps you pitiful child
amber by Autechre
you listen to nothing but your mom
The indie kids will be triggered because this is 100% true
ageispolis and pulsewidth are lit too
but xtal is probably the one with more emotion
xtal is one of my favourite tracks

B A L S A M
It's got unusually warm textures for being in a genre known for being among the coldest in its realm of music.
>techno
>unusually warm textures
you make techno sound so one-note and rigid when it's anything but youtube.com
This is the true peak
>tips fedora
It's a good track but really leans more ambient than techno. I wouldn't even really consider it ambient techno.
here is some proper tech:

>no one mentioned Ptolemy
What the fuck? No.
Xtal is really great but I also love Alberto Balsam and Flim as well.
Mah nigga
Xtal and Tha are the highlights of that album.
literally fedora tipping: the thread
I love this

I fell in love with this track

sounds like a wonderful beach adventure to me, gr8 opening track
>1992: electronic music begins
Well, should've narrowed it down to ambient techno probably. Techno is too broad, and I've pissed off quite a few techno boys it seems.
Name more good artists not on the established labels then. It's not that I don't wanna listen to their stuff, it's just harder to come across tracks you actually like that way.
That's why I said unusually warm. Xtal's got a warmer sound than At The Heart Of It All.
Orbital - Halcyon + On + On
Orbital - The Girl With The Sun In Her Head
Underworld - Cowgirl
Underworld - Pearls Girl
Underworld - Juanita/Kiteless (EE live version)
one of them
“We learn to see.” -Zero Zero, To A Future Dawn (1990)

Also wrote this directly after listening to xtal. Probably in a few days I'll say the same about a different track. It's one of the best ambient techno tracks of the '90s, let's keep it at that
>it's a /bleep/ gets mad about people liking an electronic artist episode
it's not hard ffs. i can't understand how any discerning fan of music just waits around for others to spoonfeed them. there's so many resources at your disposal. make the effort like so many others continuously do
it's always really easy to tell which anons don't have any friends (or job presumably, i'm guessing you don't have much call to interract with other humans socially at all given your clear lack of experience)
good luck sorting things out user, hope it goes well for you
>don't want to spoonfeed me music? you must be a loser!
Alright, will do.
lol nice one. i have nothing to prove to you so continue assuming things about myself on the basis of how i treat anons on an anonymous message board. have a good one mate
It's Roygbiv or Aquarius.
>triggered outsider housefag
Inversion is the peak of music
>implying BoC has ever made a techno track ever
Pulse width is best
Chinook
no but its up there. I prefer stylers more similar to headless horseman & SNTS.
acid techno like boston 168 is pretty nice
>It's a good track but really leans more ambient than techno
this. I feel proper techno is one of the least appreciated/known about genres here
Do you ever listen to anything but aphex twin, dota 2 bottle-pissing neckbeard?
lmaooo i was on your side till this trainwreck of a post man
I was actually about to say in my post that Chinook is the closest to techno they've gotten
>it's just harder to come across tracks you actually like that way
you don't actually like techno and probably just shouldn't talk about it

this one's real special
> h-hes telling me to do actual research for 2 seconds on the hundreds of albums that are released a day!!?? H-hes telling me to take literally 2 fucking seconds to look at bleep. How dare he, im juts going to say hes a loser.
