well when the lannisters are given so much favourable treatment and extra screen time its not hard to see why vs the guy playing a character the showrunners didn't give a shit about and only gave him the line "hes a military guy" for motivation, background etc.

Most people do not doubt that shireen is going to be burned and even by stannis most of us are certain that it will never be because of snow or ramsay having super powers which cripple him because plot armour. theres also things in the book that make him burning shireen because of the boltons impossible due to geography, the actual winter being here and slowing everything down, jon being stabbed at the same time melly, selyse and shireen are there along with the wildlings and the fact that the frey vanguard are riding out after stannis and finally the fact that at the moment he accepts that he could die but that his remaining men should fight to put shireen on the throne should he die etc.

I don't know it will be Stannis. Maybe Mel will do it with Stannis gone in the book and D&D probably didn't know either.

This was made before the episode aired when he burned her.

This is still the best storyline even if they ruined the reason he will do it in the books.

Stannis despite being shit on constantly by D&D was still a very good and well acted character. The 5th season really did some damage to him though. What I find absolutley hilarious is D&D say Stannis once he has his mind set on something never changes his mind, so Stannis tells Melly to fuck off regarding Shireen and then a few episodes later he burns Shireen.

And the Davos relationship with Shireen was expanded on to add to it probably because GRRM always intended Mel and Davos to last longer than Stannis.
