When do you think CDs will die?

I collect CDs and I dread the day when I cant find them anywhere. When do you think that day will come?

>When do you think CDs will die?
like 10 years ago dude

I haven't bought a new cd for like a decade (it really is absurd to pay €20 for some copyrights on virtually obsolete technology). However I still like the format and look around at flea markets regularly. And well, it's getting difficult. If you ever find good records, chances are it's from an estate.

>buying music

I can't find the entirety of DAMN. for free so I baught it on cd.

imagine collecting VHS or DVD back in the day

I collect CDs too, I can only buy CDs when I am visiting someone in another city cuz you can't find a single CD in any shit stores where I live, I hoped for years that someone in my town would open a record store, but the only thing I got was a hipster store ONLY selling overpriced second hand vinyls with fucking trash music...

Why are you wasting your money collecting CDs? If you want a physical record just get vinyl because that will stay around for much longer and there’s far more shops with it

why would you pay more for inferior quality

>CDs - £1-£7 each
>Records £15-£30 each

Stealing and/or Copyright infringement is wrong.

If its not on a streaming service then if the CD is only a few more bucks than the file then why not? Especially if you get the lyrics etc.

alri dad

People eventually get as much freedom as they they can handle. None.

I just do it to support artists I really like. Maybe there'll be like a revival in a while, like the vinyl trend going on right now. I doubt it though, CD's have never had the same nostalgia attached to them. Vinyls are more physical, and there's also the charm of the large artworks on the sleeves. All of which you don't get with CD's

>collecting CD
>Allowing a physical form of digital audio to consume space in your home
Buy vinyl fag, at least then you'll have something worth collecting.

I would buy all re-released Rammstein vinyls, when they get released tomorrow, but theyre 40€ each so 240€ aint a small amount of money, meanwhile I could get CDs for 15€ each... Dunno about "wasting" money

cds are less expensive, take up less space, and don't require $200+ for a good setup. you cant listen to vinyl in your car

...

if you're not a literal retard records are never worth that much

That makes no sense.

Paying for mp3s will die long before CDs do. There will always be a niche market for physical music

The only time to buy a vinyl that's available on cd is if its a LOCKED GROOVE

Records were never that disgustingly overpriced, the only reason they're sold for so much now is because of the new vinyl resurgence. Give it a couple years, it'll die down.

>Implying I'm baiting
>Implying I don't have a vinyl collection
>Implying I waste my money on tiny plastic discs
Why they fuck would I buy a CD when I can buy the vinyl and download the FLAC of an album?

I spend the money because I treat music listening as a hobby and activity, not just some fucking wallpaper that's always on all the time while I do normal every day shit.

How much of a fucking pleb do you have to be to argue for the efficacy of an artistic medium because of how transportable it is?

why have anything when you have flac

i have a nice setup at home, I'm just making a case for why people would use CDs and why I do sometimes. Of course with music streaming, cds in cars will go the way of the dinosaur but i still keep a few of my favorite albums in my car.
