Is Buckley right about music fans being completely annoying? Do you agree with his points made in this video?
ITT: Music Fans
Buckley is a blithering retard and he's not only wrong but sounds like a complete faggot in this video
>music fans are pretty much the most annoying people on the planet
one sentence in and he's already correct
Buckley is an unfunny edgy 2009 internet leftover. Why anybody would pay attention to him is beyond me.
can anybody tl;dr this
Care to elaborate?
I automatically discount the opinion of anyone who makes youtube videos
Here's just a picture of the three reasons he hates them.
This guy is just biased. That pic is not true at all. Sup Forums is an absolutely testament to the opposite of that considering that even the most basic of Sup Forums core tastes transcends different genres. I guess we are not true "music fans"
...so all those "rap sucks," Grimes/Bjork are just stupid waifus, and "Classical and Baroque music are the superior genres" threads are just mere jokes?
Kek
Bump
Most of them are. But waifu postimg is actually annoying
That isn't my point though. Sup Forums revels in its elitism and "musical authority" and constantly peer pressures people to listen to whatever abstract, avant-garde drivel becomes popular almost every single day. Not only that, but they shun others for delving into anything outside of that, and call other people plebs, normies, retards, and the likes for not partaking in Sup Forumscore. Buckley perfectly criticizes the stupidity of this, and how we're not even appreciating the form because of our reluctance to accept others' tastes. Hierarchical behaviors only exacerbate our own stupidity and isolate us from discovering music. People should just let others roam as they please and not belittle others for enjoying other genres and styles of music.
sounds like his only experience with music fans has been teenagers
Well, actually more YouTube comments.
buckley is the epitome of reddit when it comes to music taste and critique. he also has no grasp of politics but that's irrelevant
>hurr man these lyrics ooh yeah yea nah not good. this verse doesn't even rhyme LOL. umm.... remember when music was good like queen, instead of nicki minaj calling people hoes?
it's embarrassing.
>pretty much everything
That's a lie, if you have to preface everything with "pretty much" you also have a narrow individualized taste
I think the real problem is that he doesn't have nearly as much experience interacting with movie, ad especially TV fans, as with music fans, what with his channel and career being music based.
Do people still watch this faggot?
I remember his pop lyric dissecting videos and thinking that he was sooper smart, but now I can't fathom how absolutely butt blasted about music you have to be in order to take apart an entire genre that has always been meaningless trite. I mean he got mad once about LMFAO referencing led zeppelin in one of their songs for fucks sake
But lyrics do matter in music, for songs that choose to implement them. The melodic atmosphere in certain songs do weigh more on the scale then lyricism, but in songs which have simple, rudimentary compositions, lyrics are truly the only worthwhile subject to criticize. If lyrics didn't matter, by that logic you can just merge Paranoid Android with the lyrics of Macarena and it wouldn't matter. Or put Master of Puppets onto Rihanna's Umbrella. And yes, I am aware of mash-ups.
2011-2015 era Buckley was golden. I started to distance myself from him a bit in 2016 and now sporadically watch his videos. I'm really excited for the top 10 worst of 2017 video, because I admittedly have not listened to, with the exception of Humble by Kendrick Lamar, any "mainstream" music at all this year. I don't even know what other song peaked this year. So hopefully he'll remind me if mainstream music has stagnated or not this past year.
His objectification of music and comparing emotional attachment of music to emotional attachment of a twix bar is, by far, one of the most autistic things I've ever heard.
No, hes wrong, his generalizations are braindead, and hes more dull than a door nail when it comes to understanding the relationship art has with people. That last aspect makes me think he might be literally autistic.
t. "music" fan
To the extent that all music is just mere commerce, I completely disagree with. However, with the advent of pop music reveling in its contrived, trite and generic ethos, and record labels constantly using the art form for material profit, it does seem like a justifiable reason for why quite a bit of music has lost its artistic integrity.
t. someone who came here from Sup Forums
What? I have never even posted on Sup Forums before; this and Sup Forums are my primary boards.
This faggot is still relevant?
Pretty sure some of his past vids about music are literally what he complains about in this video.
You can find people like this with any form of art. (seriously, does he not know how many film snobs that exist?) Seems like his only interaction with "music fans" are YouTube comments, which is pretty clearly comprised mostly of 13 year olds, especially when it's on his own videos.
