It's all in the syncopation. Doom swings. Most metal uses really rigid grid-like rhythmic structures and it becomes exhausting and boring over time no matter how many time signature changes you throw in.
Honestly doom is the only type of metal with any femininity. It's genuinely sexy music with warm guitar tones and throbbing grooves. Women want to have sex with doom songs. A woman who wants to fuck a non-doom metal song has serious kink.

You probably don't listen to a whole lot of metal and started with Dopethrone on behest of your stoner-buddies. How you can find doom more "unique" than black metal is just mind-boggling. Doom is fine, but it's not exactly a genre known for its great experimentation. Rather it's known for housing a million Black Sabbath copycat bands and a million bands whose primary inspirition is getting high.
