Please recommend jazz to me. Prefer stuff with a lot of piano because I want to learn to play it.

All the most famous / well known stuff, the classics, whatever. I have no starting point here. I have never listened to jazz before and I don't remember the names of any famous jazz artists.

In the meantime, will check out what has already been posted ITT

This is an incredible piece of jazz/solo piano, and personally one of the greatest (if not the greatest) piano pieces ever. Bear in mind this is pretty much entirely improvised, with Jarrett, sleep-deprived and suffering back pains, playing on a substandard piano that forced him to adapt his normal style. The result, especially the first part, is fantastic.

Not exactly a great start for learning how to play, but I think Jarrett's mastery of the instrument and his musical ideas are definitely worth studying (not a pianist myself though).

Excellent taste. I would choose either that one or pic related.

This is pretty good, thanks

duh

Yeah it's great and stuff but it isn't strict jazz. But still very great stuff

Mingus Ah Um or Science Fiction.

How do you make your way through a jazz artist's discography when they have like 125 albums???

Chronologically.

What did he mean by this? Also that's not even the best Davis album

This one is pretty good.

Never seen that before, very cool. I always love the sorts of things that help you realize just how similar everyone's thoughts and feeling really are

Nice picks

Haven't heard buy Barry Guy isn't selling it to me

Not a Fan, they just don't do much for me.

I've been digging into his discography, now that ECM is on Spotify and I like him less than I did before. Like I either get bored or have a numb luke warm feeling towards his albums.

Nice Meme, Billy
