Genres that are superior to the genres they grew out of

pop punk > punk

What's the point of this transparent bait?

Not bait, its a thread topic

Alternative Rock > Pop Rock

This too

"brostep" > UK dubstep

not even baiting desu

The there's no way pop punk is better than "punk" unless you're referring to first wave punk rock.

I think pop punk and skate punk are much better in terms of songwriting and visual aesthetics even if they don't fit the archaic punk mold, which is shit to begin with desu.

First wave punk was the only good punk. Punk was fucking dead by 1980.

What do you think about Wipers, Minutemen, Husker Du?

Pre 80s punk was just "we know the secrets to the world and government that no one else knows and record them in a hookless, melody void manner".

I think they had more to do with alternative rock than punk, same goes for The Mats.

Can't argue with that. In fact it always sounded strange when I hear others referring to Minutemen as punk, especially after the first two albums.
As for first wave, I think the Voidoids are pretty solid and way ahead of the curve, compared to their contemporaries atleast.

>hookless
Thanks for confirming that you have NEVER listened to 70s punk. It was all hooks. They repeated the choruses ad nauseam.

RAMONES and Sex Mannequins aren't what I had in mind when posting that.

You spelled post-punk wrong.

Pop punk is gr8

But I spelled pop punk correctly, in fact that was my intention.

Post-punk is better than punk and pop punk.

i guess for all the pop punk i've listened to i keep skipping over the good stuff

What have you listened to?

Deathgrind > Grindcore.
