Has there ever been any musician since Zappa to reach the same level of complexity, composition, commentary and virtuosity? Post favourite albums and tracks.
Watermelon in Easter Hay followed with Green Rosetta is so fucking amazing and complimentary to the rest of the record, Joes garage has to be my favourite.
Still waiting for a blu-ray reissue of Baby Snakes with accompanying audio recording of that concert so I can enjoy Zappa fucking murdering this solo in City of Tiny Lights in HD.
I feel like most of the Zappa trashers on Sup Forums heard Bobby Brown and Valley Girl and came to the conclusion that Zappa is an talentless comedy rock edgelord.
Benjamin Garcia
Nice! Im working on my Zappa collection now. Only got Hot Rats and Sheik Yerbouti, but I will get there.
Easton Turner
This is my favorite Jim Jarmusch movie
Thomas Roberts
Joe's Garage is great but really lags in the middle with all those downtempo reggae-ish tracks. The majority of it is great though. Hard to pick a favorite considering he has so many different sounds, styles and eras to choose from but One Size Fits All usually comes out on top for me. Inca Roads may be the ultimate Zappa track.
Chase Hall
>so I can enjoy Zappa fucking murdering this solo in City of Tiny Lights in HD. YES! Holy shit that performance is fucking God-tier. Such an underrated Zappa song. I wish Belew had been in the band longer.
Samuel Hernandez
>Inca Roads may be the ultimate Zappa track. Not The Little House I Used to Live In or the full Yellow Snow suite?
Julian Sanders
you are what you is is probably my favorite album, uncle meat is the 2nd one
Camden Reyes
Joe Satriani has moments approaching Zappa
Aiden Torres
I've never heard this version thank you so much for showing me this and we urgently need a dvd quality reissue at least
Austin Bennett
Little House is definitely a good candidate. Personally, I wouldn't say Yellow Snow but I see where you're coming from.
Kevin Rogers
Steve Vai's first album is basically an attempt to be Zappa. You can definitely hear the influence in some of his other work but he became too much of a "shredder" to be Zappa-esque IMO. What are some Satriani tracks that are Zappa-esque? I always found Satriani to be like like Vai but more straightforward and easy to listen to.

frank zappa is literally a pornographer
he's gross, fuck him and fuck his music
Juan Gomez
Is There Love In Space? has a lot of the same kind of vibe.
Ian Perry
>Classical pieces shitty Varesè worship >fusion jazz pieces shitty in general, but great production >rock era from ‘66-‘70 ACTUALLY GREAT
Dude was a mess and should have focused himself on making quality avant rock, not shitty fusion. Weasels Ripped My Flesh and Burnt Weeny are the best because it’s him doing all his weird shit in rock contexts
Eli Ramirez
> fuck him and fuck his music > pornographer
Owen Young
You forgot the Synclavier era.
I like some of the Jazz era, also legit love Cruising with Reuben and the Jets R&B.
