Yes. Also the comic is the only good longrunning capeshit funnybook ever. Start with Case File 1 and work your way up. readcomiconline.to/Comic/Judge-Dredd-The-Complete-Case-Files

it's racist and misogynistic

full of themes of patriarchy and toxic masculinity, couldn't get through it because it gave me a panic attack

i actually wanted to read the comic. thanks.

nice

very good way of avoiding both dc and marvel cancer, that's why a sequel is very unlikely though, too much 'conan kind of entertaining', does not fit in our terrible cuck times

It's a glimpse into the future of America

and arguably a reflection of the present

it's excellent

I actually enjoyed this one and the original one. I thought it was pretty good.

Now Robocop reboot on the otherhand was fucking trash. I refuse to even watch the Total Recall.

The interesting thing about the Judge Dredd comics (and I haven't read many) is that he ages in real time. In the comics these days, he's an old fuck.

It's a goddamn action masterpiece

Who here wants to inhale some SloMo?

It's good if you're a teenager who's too cool for capeshit. Action is just okay, story is an excuse for the action and Dredd as a character is an adolescent power-fantasy. 'Hardware' is a much better 2000AD adaption.

I want to get raped while on slomo

some day when it's sold in super cheap vr, you will love this movie

maybe vhs

>george takei voice

Hell yes, one of the coolest fictional drugs. Imagine hitting an inhaler right before ejaculating

It's excellent.

Visually the 1995 movie actually captured the look of the comics a little better because they had most of the comic's top artists doing the concept art, but in every respect this absolutely nails it.

Probably the best future cop movie since Robocop, which it cheekily references at one point.

you can already watch it in supercheap vr...on your phone...carboard vr headset is very cheap. I actually bought a headset, bit better than cardboard and have dredd 3d waiting for me to finally see.

Dredd thredd?

it's top 5 capeshit

>and arguably a reflection of the present

it's not like i disagree with you.. but this movie has more to do with the raid than it has with the original movie, or robocop even.
The raid is a good movie anyways

The Raid is a copy of Dredd. Gareth Evans was working on the Dredd film before fucking off to Indonesia halfway through production and churning out a film there that mysteriously has the same plot.

Never been any hint of a lawsuit though. Always thought there was some chicanery going on there.

>the feeling of an orgasm for five minutes
no wonder that drug was so invasive

it's almost free, nigga. The lenses are like, what, 5 bucks? and the rest u can build with any cardboard u have lying around there, even a pizza box. I know i did, and im having some fun with it. Check out trinusVR

i wouldn't watch a full feature film that way tho. It probably would ruin your eyes in weeks. But it is indeed the only cheap and fast way to watch films in 3D. 3d porn, man

...

Does Slowmo make you think you are awesome but you really aren't, or does it really allow you to react that quickly?

The opening shots of the city look like shit now, but that's about all the negative things I can say about it

idk i dont read comics

Its effects are:

1) perception of time as moving at 1% its normal speed
2) everything looks really colorful and shiny
3) euphoria

They could probably do a Netflix series on the cheap using all the cosplayers the movie spawned.

So could I dodge a knife thrust easier? Or would it be worse.

Not sure whether or not it would improve your reaction time, but it'd certainly make it more painful

Tachypsychia, an altered perception of the movement of time. Sort of like how people who have been in an accident say everything was moving slowly because their senses are basically over-clocking.

Normally it's part of your fight or flight instinct so it only happens in times of extreme stress, but slo-mo also induces a sense of euphoria to accompany it.

You don't move any faster, you just see it coming from a mile away and can't do anything about it because time is slow as fuck. Even your eyes wouldn't be able to move to track shit as fast as your brain can process it. It would be a living nightmare getting stabbed because you would just watch as the knife slowwwly enters your body.

Well I know you wouldn't move faster, but would the ability to react and start moving your arm, limb, whatever be an improvement or is the drug a detriment?

This is one of the few films that genuinely looks better in 3D. Seeing it in a cinema was breathtaking, seeing it at home in 2D made a lot of the effects look cheap.

If you ever get the chance to see this film in 3D, take it.

I thought the skinning people alive in slow motion bit was too far. It was overall a fun movie that just didn't fit the tone for me.

Hopefully that Netflix thing happens. 10-12 hour-long episodes of Dredd on screen would be awesome. End the season with Judge Death's appearance as an epilogue.

Then after 3-4 seasons they do the America storyline (pic related) and every retarded political commentator in the US gets BTFO when they slowly realise what it's about.

It's a fictional drug, we don't know.

I just started reading the first comic, aka the first post in this thread. So the comics never expand on the drug lore? I feel really autistic right now.

IIRC slo-mo doesn't appear in the original 2000 AD comics, it was made for the movie.

slo-mo was created for the movie, it didn't exist in the comics prior to that as far as I know

there are spinoff comics that flesh it out it a bit, but only that it was invented by a former lover of MaMa named Eric, who was murdered by her pimp which is what made her kill the guy and take over his business, using slo-mo to become a drug kingpin.

It's pretty great. A rare example of a sequel that was better than the original.

>sequel

I don't think it would improve reaction time. You'd probably just feel the knife go in super slowly and it would suck.

*Remake.
Whatever. I'm human. Don't be a faggot your whole life.

It's ok. It's brought down by all the 3D gimmick shots.

it's just a different adaptation of the same source material, there is no other connection

>Now Robocop reboot on the otherhand was fu
That scene where they take him apart and show him his "body" was really neat though.

There's three comic 'sequels' to the movie now:
Underbelly, Uprise and Urban Warfare.

Just imagen how horrific it was for those rival gang members/dealers who were skinned alive.

read the first volume(Complete Case Files Volume #01) dont be lazy

dredd feels like bugs bunny

I think Rebootcop deserves credit where it's due, it has some genuinely good ideas. It's not a totally horrible movie, it just feels like it should have gone through maybe another draft. As it is it's basically trying to do two different storylines. the traditional "he regains his humanity" story, and the newer "he's human from the start" story, which they glue together haphazardly by doping him the fuck out when they hook him up to the CCTV feed, turning him into all robot.

Then they have the family in this one, but aside from being a plot device for him to break the emotional sedation, they dont really do much with it like they could have.

I get the feeling the movie was supposed to be updated satire on drone warfare and how an apple-like CEO would game the rules to put a drone on american streets, (the human hand being what pulls the trigger) as well as some tongue in cheek satire of tacticool, (the prisoners are frightened of the traditional silver robocop design, but nah, "let's make him tactical. let's go with black"

And Sam Jackson's character and TV show is a parody of that sensationalist Fox news sort of pundit that is real big now.

TL;DR it's not honestly that bad. it's bad, but it has lots of good ideas. Even insofar as updating Robocop's technology (the way he can virtually recreate a crime scene and generally use augmented reality is neat)

this is fucking movie was one of the rare times Sup Forums didn't lie to me. yeah, i'm talking to you VVitch shills

awesome flickino

Early Dredd was aimed at a young teen audience. It kind of grew up with them. The tone of the stories have bounced around from that beginning kids stuff to full on political activism, space opera, exploration of facism, action movie cliches, etc. Depends on who's been writing the stories mainly.

(contd) and almost always the satire has been there all the way though.

literally a reddit flick

Its trash, dont listen to the Sup Forums capeshittrrs, just watch The Raid instead, Dredd is just a shittier copy of it

they're both Die Hard clones you retard

its a solid movie

personally i was hoping for more character development and some locales outside the urbmon

>Imagine hitting an inhaler right before ejaculating
Holy shit I'd literally become a junkie

Had this happen to me, driving through an intersection when someone ran the red light and hit me. He would have hit me right in my drivers side door but I slammed on the gas so he only hit my rear quarter panel, spinning me around in a 540. It all happened in slo mo. I still think about it to this day (I walked away unharmed, but my hands were shaking for like 5 min after)

It's alright but it's more of The Raid 1.5: Scifi edition instead of a proper Dredd film since it lacks the satire and Urban thinks Dredd is Batman and also has a pathetic chin

Raid>Dredd>Raid 2

If you didn't notice any satire in the film you obviously weren't paying attention

Also it written way before The Raid came out and the claim that it's a ripoff has been disproven time and time again, crazy that there are still morons who believe it

It's 10/10 sci-fi action and one of the best movies of this decade

I'd say it's the second best, only behind The Rocketeer

The fucking movie is a masterpiece

Honestly it is the only movie worth watching for last 20 years
