The thesis goes as follows: When writing his works, Tolkien appropriated the heart of Wagner's Ring Cycle. But while Wagner's work was not afraid to name the Jew (Alberich who stole the gold of the Rhinemaidens was a Jew, and from it forged the Ring). Tolkien removed this theme and therefore neutered his work, all to please the "Philosemitic" English nation.
