First for fidgets
Second for spinners
get that memeshit outta here
youtube.com
The first 45 seconds on this is my favorite part of the album
this is good
not their best, but good
Why do you think it's a meme?
Yeah this is good. Slow was good this year too. Now jamming Usnea and I gotta say it's already a good fucking year for doom shit
>new conan album next year
feels good
new Portal
new Possessed
10th for surprisingly underrated band

...
>new Portal
when is that out again?
why are "metalheads" so childish
is it because they never grew out of their edgy phase
fuck you
NP
think you're in the wrong general
please return
Don't be ridiculous. Half of /metal/ openly crossposts there. Those types of posts are from normal Sup Forums
>half of /metal/ crossposts there
then half of /metal/ needs to leave
youtube.com
>wild rags thrash
metal is punk for fat men
>tripfag
>thinking he has an opinion
here's your (you)
>He's satisfied with a life that can be summarized by pop progressions
Pic related, it's you
starting from nothing how long does it take to be able to play coroner type material on bass guitar
>there are people in this thread that listen to Sup Forumscore RIGHT NOW
That album cover is so cool, almost as cool as Outre's
Yeah he's one of my favorite artists. I really love his work on Mayhem - Esoteric Warfare which has a different illustration for each song.
If you get yourself a good bass teacher and find time to practice for at least 2-4 hours a dayevery day, then you can git gud in matter of 3-4 years.
KUURENAIII
Guess I was right then
alright sounds manageable
19 isn’t a bad time to start making up for my wasted youth right
BM with primal/tribal/primitive drumming?
If you can't find\afford a good teacher with a good track record you can learn yourself but it's a slippery slope where you can build a shitload of bad habits, some of which might end in complete loss of motivation or even injury. So yeah, have fun
Once you get your feet wet in bass thang, check out Adam Neely's channel on youtube. The guy is a bass god and a great teacher among other things.
What differentiates good melodic death metal from bad melodic death metal in your opinion? Not necessarly in terms of bands/albums, but more specific aspects that makes or break melodic death metal.
Is it better with more emphasis on the death element, or the melodic/catchier element?
break:
- parades melodicism constantly and flamboyantly
- forced "climaxes" in songs and/or extremely obnoxious "here is the fucking chorus" songwriting etc.
- constant interplay of clean and harsh vocals
- basically bad power metal with growls
Good riffs, duh.
I don't particularly like the whole mdm as a genre since in majority of bands it sounds just like edgier power metal with some occasional growls. However I can name a few bands that I love - Quo Vadis, some Insomnium albums, In Mourning, maybe Be'lakor's Stone's Reach can fit here too.
It's not as simple as "more death = good" or "more melodic = good". All of the aforementioned bands know how to keep the album interesting, they pay attention to the dynamic of the song and dynamic of the whole album, they make catchy creative riffs with interesting rhythmic patterns and when they go your standard breaking melodic line over 8th notes spam in harmonic section it doesn't feel cheesy or boring. Idk these bands just have a good vision of a composition and fill it with cool riffs I guess.
>What differentiates good melodic death metal from bad melodic death metal in your opinion?
Stupid insistence that absolutely EVERY riff has to be catchy.
Boring verse - chorus - verse song structure.
Overuse of keyboards.
Here, have some good melodeath youtube.com
post trve kvlt shit
youtu.be
ok thanks bro i’ll make /metal/ proud
>LOL AUTISM SPINNERS XXDDDD
What are you implying? This is very serious.
For me, I like it when mdm has well-written, melancholy themes, almost lullaby-like or something.

I think melodic death metal has the highest potential for beauty (in the conventional sense) of any metal genre, with only doom metal rivaling it.
2-4 hours a day practicing wankshit will have you shredding in a few weeks unless you're Michael J Fox
sums up the genre desu
Is that good or bad?
depends on your feelings towards the differently-abled.
Well yeah Stevie T is definitely differently abled than most people. That is a very advanced level of guitar playing.
desu, as cringey as most people here would think he is.
You can tell he literally gives 0 fucks.
is any of the new Mors Principium Est worth a damn
their first few albums were fire and then they got rid of half their band members
thats a picture of me right before i go on a atmofag slaughtering rampage
how many levels of irony is this post?
I wish I could disagree with you. I assume he'd make another song if he really cared.
drink beer or die pussy
But beer is for pussies.
wtf i hate beer now
real men drink blood and vaginal fluids collected from virgins
Beer is for recovering alcoholics aka pussies
what if you drink that then have a beer
that's fine
Vanishing Vision > Blue Blood > Jealousy > art of life >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Dahlia

What's your AOTY 2017?
WWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDDDD
NO BAAAAASTAAAARD BAAAABYYYY
WILL INHERIT WHAT'S MINE
This has to be fake, how'd he get the spinner to be the right tempo? Unless he altered the speed in post
Why do you think its so hard to get the right tempo? The only thing that's even remotely "faked" is when he clearly shows us that one part of the song is actually still played with a pick.
Should i feel bad for liking this album? Or the band itself even?
For me it's this one, their best one yet. Conveying the retro sound while preserving their unique progressive approach.
How close was this to their other one for you? I gave it the better score.
You mean Loüm? Quite close actually, i enjoyed it a lot but it didnt stood out enough for me from their previous releases the way Go be forgotten did. So less memorable but still a solid release
Yeah sorry Loum. I'm going through Go Be Forgotten again right now. As I recall the guitar was more complex on Loum which put it ahead for me. My biggest impression was that they brought everything they had to the table since the Neurosis guy was with them.
This was pretty good. Made me want to do some more exploring with the funeral doom metal genre. Any recs anyone here would like to give? Also, I'd love a nice looking 1080p wallpaper of that art. So fucking good.
GOAT
Dahlia is their best tho.
Definitely hit up their previous albums, Longing (my favorite) and Four Phantoms. If you're not familiar with funeral doom at all definitely listen to Thergothon - Stream from the Heavens and Skepticism - Stormcrowfleet. Here's some of my genre favorites
Wormphlegm - Tomb of the Ancient King
Catacombs - In the Depths of R'lyeh
Mournful Congregation - The Monad of Creation
Ahab - The Call of the Wretched Sea
Aldebaran - Dwellers in Twilight
objectively correct

Cool, I'll check all of these out. Thanks for the suggestions.
one of the great ones indeed

CRRRRRYYYYYYYY FOR A WORLD THAT'S TORN
Tyranny's 2 albums
more like this
Gottem on the backlog, thanks.
Overwhelming cheesiness, corniness, and blandness outweighing the creativity and heaviness make it bad
Melodeath goes to shit when it becomes guitar pop with growls. And unfortunately this is what most melodeath bands do.
I don't mind melody. I don't even mind when the music borders on power metal or other genres. But if you do it, do it good, and keep it metal. I don't need verse chorus verse bullshit, overproduced sound and cheesy hooks. Keep this garbage to rock please.
love that song
explain to me how this isnt the greatest solo of all time
youtube.com
Because Schenker got better after UFO
No pinch harmonics
No arpegio sweeps
nah you're just biased because of the Neurosis guy
Gargoyle
Maybe and also I just relistened to Go Be Forgotten and I admit I copped out very hard on that ambient whatever track and unobjectively slammed it for that.
because it's not this
youtu.be
the ambient isn't bad but it def wrecks the flow
fun fact: the first song on GBF is a "cover" of this beastlor.bandcamp.com
Awesome thanks, in for later
