Terrible thread. Music in 2017 was a failure in an of itself, both in the mainstream and indie. They each reveled in their own stereotypes and degraded us for years to come.
So listen to this. It's a 10/10 song much better than the garbage in 2017 combined.

Good year for music
Flower Boy was my AOTY but that's too mainstream 4 u
I haven't listened to any future funk in a long time, cause it got stale for me, but I heard This new Macross track and I suddenly felt nostalgia for 2011-2013 youtu.be
Caretaker but working with more electronic than jazz stuff: room40.bandcamp.com
The heaviest electronic drone album I have heard. It's almost doom metal like but with electronic textures instead: irisarri.bandcamp.com
Jazz dude who makes drone music, but since he uses a lot of real instruments it's very colorful. Almost like Music For 18 Musicians but yet nothing like it: yairelazarglotman.bandcamp.com
p cool
spooky!
Thanks.
Reminder to any oldschool/underground hip hop fans that aussies go hard

But I'm not the owner

He's very much an early 2000s "conscious" rapper but his early works have a bunch of great stuff. It's a shame he never really made it big enough to be known by anyone in America while he has had some moderate success in Canada.
if my intro to a band is a video with them squishing lady bugs, im out.
w-where can i find more of this user?

I am so happy Lucy Rose released new songs this year.
When she came to Brazil for the frist time, she was talking about trying to write new songs and sometimes how difficult this could be because her manager said her kind of song is not worthy money.
Hearing this piece again and again just make me happy to see she didn't give up on her dreams: youtube.com
Went on a tzadik records binge and discovered them a few years ago. For the longest time I thought one of those guys only played naked.
I found this a couple days ago
Tell me how shit my taste is.

>tricot
All streaming services have them. Also Soulseek. Oh, and if my memory doesn't fail me, they're on bandcamp too. Japanese Math Rock is basically a niche of its own with little parallels outside. Power Pop is a huge thing there off bands like The Beatles, Cheap Trick and the pillows, and that leaks into math rock, noticeably on groups like tricot or Kozumi, also the cabs in a way (for a bit more straightforward power pop but still with many shared elements of post-hardcore, check out Polkadot Stingray). Western Math Rock sorta has that, though not too much, mostly in emo or those that may take an approach inspired by dancier genres (very noticeable on Irish math rock with You Slut! and Adebisi Shank and Bats and many others). Jazz is still very much a big thing there, so many bands will take heavily from it, and there's a whole "math rock but it's actually partially jazz" genre with things like littleneem and Owarikara and especially Mouse on the Keys. The West has sort of been having that with bands like CHON, but the use of pianos as a main instrument in math rock is still very Japanese. Then there's a more post-rocky side of the likes of toe which admittedly isn't my strong suite, though one band I can reccomend in that area is Pretend even though they're american. Keep in mind many of those have been inspired by Number Girl and Zazen Boys, so you may want to look into that.
thanks user
haven't heard to many 2017 releases really, but I can't for the life of me stop listening to this tune

The former guitarist did, right?
Thanks, desu.
Never seen them live, but back then the only live and promo pictures I found had him naked.
Well he's wearing only a tshirt in this one

They dropped a new album? Holy shit.
Check out the crab in the bucket!
love tricot
It's been a while, but yeah.
Me too.
That album is probably the number 2 AOTY for me, though. Polkadot Stingray's debut won me over.
