trying to be more productive and record more stuff, practise editing and fake drums. I think "its a cheaters life" came out pretty good, if mixed a bit too low. couple of the olds tunes are alright, "she says her name is summer", "headcase"
I remember you, you got a voice on ya. The mood and feel is really well put together. Few stream of consciousness thoughts. better days: lyrics drown just a little bit, Lost a little oomph for me going “back” to simple guitar after the horns and synth. Id much rather have them around till the end, they are by no means overstaying their welcome. I’m a big sigur ros guy though, so take it with that in mind
Film noir has a really nice movement to it, it doesn’t thread water but goes somewhere which really works for the folk-feel. Now that I think about it it does feel a little like folksy solo sigur ros. Fun stuff
cont:
Lonely uke boy is really pleasant. Muted sound adds a lot of character overall although im curious as to how idd sound without it. Seems like youre very close to a complete personal style. Sixtyfive, If you had a simple base tying it down in I could use a bit more movement on the solo guitar, the long notes sound like just a 32th too long for my tastes. Not teasing enough, it could use just a pinch of bite, a wink. Something flirtatious. Sort of what you do with the piano on interlude, but maybe just half an inch more, just enough to draw blood
i like your sound a lot.listened in the other thread, so i didnt catch those exact numbers.
burn therapy has a great feel. i dont think your voice is "shit" as you write on there, but i feel like there is some sort of disconnect between your singing and the rest of the musical body?picture? not sure what the right translation is, not used to talking music in English, we use a lot of painting metaphors in my language. Its like youre not exactly singing the same genre as the music, if that makes sense. It comes off a little too self-aware, like i feel I can hear that youre not owning it, so its either overstated or understated, back and forth. Id recommend trying to sing a bunch of other stuff to work out what you feel good about and then trying to incorporate that
you clearly have a talent for composition, its extremely expressive
My kind of jam dude. Love the snark, nasal thing you have going vocaly, really compliments the “childishness” of lyrics (liarliar chorus). I could drink your voice. You can sell both coy and teasing and absolutely genuine. The music has a fun thing going were it feels like its almost coming apart at the seams, but its held together by sheer attitude and momentum, making it immediately attentiongrapping. Really works for me. Head in clouds and liar liar are a+ in my book. I feel like I can feel the collaborative energy setting the numbers apart from the solo demos, and if that’s not just something im imagining you really compliment each other energy wise. Feel like I can hear you playing of each other in the room here and there, like jazz musicians sort of
