I've heard Noah is a bit more even handed when it comes to criticizing liberals as well as conservatives. Is that true? Because Samantha Bee just seems to be to the perfect example of a snarky liberal who can't understand let alone consider the other side.

If you looked at the ratings, Trevor's not doing that badly. Jon Stewart being replaced was always going to mean lower ratings because he was the face of the show for sixteen years, but it's not like Trevor's doing abysmally, he's usually doing between 0.7 -0.9 million. Occasionally even over a million. Dude's different, but funny in his own way. I'm actually thinking of buying his book, his childhood apartheid stories are hilarious.

Samantha Bee in the daily show already did enough stuff to induce vomiting. She would interview people for hours if needed to be able to have editing material to make them look like idiots.

Imagine being a political activists having a cause and strong arguments. A reporter shows interest in what you are saying, you go there, you talk with her in front of cameras for 4 hours, you provide her with enough arguments to make any reasonable human agree that you have a point. Then you check the final cut of the show :

Samantha understands the basics of comedy. It's baffling how Noah fails at even the most elementary aspects of comedy such as timing and setup, he's absolutely terrible. I saw an episode of Samantha Bee a few months ago and it wasn't terrible, it was this episode and I laughed a few times.

For example, I think the last update put it at 110M TVs in the US. We all know damned well there are more than that, but those numbers are disregarded.

Civil war was the Statist elite crushing a rebellion against unlawful use of power. The slaves were freed because the Union didn't really need the slave labor anymore since large scale industry was booming for the first time. The Confederacy was still mainly reliant on it's farmwork industry, something that was so massive that it needed slave labor to function. Making slavery illegal was also the last excuse needed to start a full blown war with the dissidents.
