Do Americans know anything of British politics?
Is it covered a lot when we have our elections?
Just kinda thought about considering how much the American election is ocvered on our news networks.
Like do you even know what the house of commons is?

Nope.
No.
You guys are never on our networks.
Yes, but I had to look up why it was always the same two two nerds sitting in the middle standing up and talking at boxes all the time.
the queen makes all the rules
the britbong prime minister is 'merica's bitch
that's all i know
and just looking at that pic makes me want to fall asleep. it looks incredibly boring
No I wanted to see some coverage during the 2015 general election but it was hardly mentioned.
Incorrect

Sup Forums why am i here??
my parents are scottish. I know about the house of lords and the house of commons.
U.S. senate and Congress are the same model
Only briefly, mostly just covers whatever pm says.
Last time I saw footage or mention on a major network of the commons was when everyone was anger and throwing papers around and shit.
PBS and CSPAN air PMQ's each week for teh lulz. That's about it.
Ocassionally. The house of commons is your parliment, the house of lords is mostly ceremonial. That's my understanding.
I just heard about that time you tried to tax us and it went south
>Do Americans know anything of British politics?
Do Americans know anything of American politics?
I know nigger. But like 85% of the US has no clue.
so cute when they think they live under anything but a monarchy
>Last time I saw footage or mention on a major network of the commons was when everyone was anger and throwing papers around and shit.
That's just your average PM's question time
Do you?
Nope
We don't give a shit about you
From what we do see it looks like a stupid joke with people saying stereotypical British shit like
Here here
No one gives a shit about you here
This is coming from a social studies teacher too
No because Americans just don't care.
I was thinking about calling up Putin and telling him to hold off on Constantinople but now I'm not.
We know who the queen is, we know who princess kate is, and some of us know who the prime minister is.
I know America is secretly ruled by the British royal family.
why would they lol
we are so irrelevant
Keked
We get about 30-40% of what you guys do over there, which when you think about it isn't that much.
Something I want to ask you guys:
Is the Labor party full of pussies or is that just what it looks like from here?
Ed Milliband and his "DIS IS WOT A FEMINIST LOOKS LIKE" T-shirts make him look ultra cucked. Harriet Harman seems like a cunt too.
They show PMQ's on CSPAN sometimes.
Ur irrelevant in the world today. Only reports eu economic issues.
I pay attention when there is a prime minister election. You aren't all that important to us. That's what happens when your nation isn't far and away the most important in the world.
CNN/MSNBC/FOX? Nah, never.
Nightly news, like ABC/NBC/CBS? A little bit
Local News? Never
BBC Radio News Hour and therefore by extention PBS/NPR? Jesus Christ STFU
As an "objective" outsider who doesn't have a dog in the fight, the idea of leaving a political union is alien and downright inexplicable to an American, like shit dude think of all the treaties you'll have to redo, and with lesser leverage you'll end up with a net shittier deal. Y'all are daft m8ey
We stopped caring when princess die pulled an Earnhardt.
House of Lords has no real power any more, hasn't since 1911
no
The labor party base is Glasgow, Scotland. FROM my understanding if you don't have a glaswegian accent you dinnae vote labor
>Do Americans know anything of British politics?
we know you had a couple of ugly royal kids get married and that the queen is named Victoria and something called parliament
that's about it
House of lords, home of pedos nazis and coke addicts
Stay classy bong
Basically what I got if #Leave you're a racist nazi, if #remain you're a progressive.
>british politics
You guys know you still have a queen, right?
We know literally absolutely fucking nothing about you except we kicked your ass in the Revolutionary war and we saved your ass during WWII.
Not even memeing that is the extent of British history taught.
I think you guys have a Queen/Highblood parliament run by rich families or something?
We know dick all about your lonely island.
Westminster Parliament is made of two Houses: the House of Commons, and the House of Lords.
The House of Commons is an entirely elected house, done through general elections and internal party politics. They make the statute and have the 'power' to create.
The House of Lords is hereditary, and a selected of peers that are knowledgeable, respected, and has members of the clergy from the Church of England. They discuss legislation, provide advice, and shoot down statutes that are not in a party's election manifesto (since they are exempt from this process) for up to three times, essentially saying that the Commons has to reform the bill.
The Queen is the third stage. All laws must be passed through her, similar to the President. She has a veto of laws, but does not use it often due to convention and a risk of a constitutional crisis.
>This is how bongs """work"""
KEK you yuros are all as bad as the french and italians
No. Why should we? Britain is just another country in Europe to us. There's really nothing special or interesting about it other than a common language. Post-Cold War European politics are of little relevance to Americans.
Watch In Search Of The Second Amendment and read Roger Scruton's Fools, Frauds, and Firebrands. That which America harvested, England planted.
Survivalists, preppers and strict constructionists are your friends. We hold dear the memory of the Glorious Revolution as an inspiration to our own. I grew up with Yes, Minister, The New Statesman and Rumpole, and I still have tiny cigars, Mount Gay and the old edition of the OBEP by my bedside.
With that said, what on Earth has England, common law or freedom to do with the UK?
>YEEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH
>She has a veto of laws
>The House of Lords is hereditary
JUST
bongistan confirmed a littoral 3rd world country
I am hoping you guys follow through with Brexit.
You have to be meming.
I probably know more about the nature of your country than you do.
>House of Lords
>Ruling elite through blood alone
Are the SJW not strong over there or what? If our ruling class was based entirely on blood and was 99% white rich people they would be sobbing blood.
Never experienced an election that was covered quite as thoroughly as this one, then again Trump's a treat to listen to.
It's some sort of soap-drama-comedy, better than almost any other program.
I know that despite you having multiple parties, your system is broken as ours - UKIP wins a massive proportion of voters, barely represented.
I know you have a house of government filled with arrogant nobles who freely buy drugs and rape children, unworried about punishment.
I know Labor and the Tories are the same traitors playing a slightly different room, and want to drown you in cheap Muslim immigrants.
I know you have a Queen who swore to defend her nation, Church, and people and has done none of these things.
I know your Prime Minister belonged to a club that burned money in front of hobos to mock their poverty and once had sex with a pig.
who cares for your elections
Yes
Partially
And how? That makes no sense. If you thinkt hat being a Democratic Republic is what makes a first world country, then you're a tard. You probably don't even know what the origins of a first world country meaning is.
memes aside I really do feel bad for them sometimes. But what they don't know won't hurt them You're definitley a """"western""" "democracy"", good lads off you go now. back to your cuck shed island.
We are far larger, powerful, influential, economically central and have much more global presence then you.
Of course you know more about us then we do of you.
I know fuck all about the Sudan as well. Why would I bother to learn about a country that is irrelevant?
Partially hereditary
We are not the USA
many people think the queen makes all laws
that's it. we don't talk about you much. you government ruined your country. it's irrelevant now
>Do Americans know anything of British politics?
No, except for those of us who read/research things online. That being said, I can't name any politicians you have other than Cameron and Farage.
>Is it covered a lot when we have our elections?
Not at all. I think word spread among conservative talk shows during your last election where you had a huge UKIP win. Not that anyone knows what that is, they just said "their conservative party".
>Just kinda thought about considering how much the American election is ocvered on our news networks.
Because we're much more important to you (and the world) than you are to us.
>Like do you even know what the house of commons is?
Me personally? Without reading the thread or checking google, I'd assume this is your parliament.
Not yet.
No, I have had to learn everything on my own or from reading threads here.
Vote Brexit. Farrage for PM. Deport David Cameron and Ed Miliband to Syria. Make Britain Great Again.
>having stockholm syndrome this bad
yesus christ, even the FRENCH had enough backbone to try and free themselves. How has this gone on for so long??
Nothing about British politics are covered, and even when you guys have elections it's a 2 minute segment to tell people which party won and then remind everyone what that party even stands for.
And that's it.
I know you guys like think you're still an important empire, but...
>projecting this hard
2 minute search will tell you different
Your country isn't even primarily a democracy, it's primarily a republic. It was never meant to be as federal as it is now. if anything you've made yourself more like Europe.
No we don't pay attention to lesser people's. And the only reason I am familiar with your system is that I love to watch the bantz that go on during the PM questions.
K...Dat was bretty kewl. Really professional though lol
You probably do know more since all our news is lies. I have to get all my politics from here and fucking /r/The_Donald because all media is so shamelessly cucked here
I actually have seen some actual Britbong parliament shit going on before. I say actual because burger tv over dramatizes everything to alost unreal level.
Regardless, I quite enjoyed the cheeky bantz between folks
Maybe how your governmental system works, but not modern politics. All world history courses focus on European history and all European history courses focus on Britain and France. Decline of Colonization focuses on the British Empire from before the wars and after. Most recent thing we learned was about Thatcher/conservatism and Hong Kong. (product of the Massachusetts schools system here)
It's almost never a leading story, even the day after elections.
Pretty sure everyone who gives a thought to politics in general understands how the houses of parliament work (or don't).
Republic>democracy.
Democracy is just tyranny via a different means. We've always been a republic. And the increase in federal power after civil war was necessary for world power and resulting freedom.
Literally the only thing that's news over here are your soccer games (thanks mexicans) and shit that happens with the royal family because we find the concept quaint and charming. Xbox hueg terror attacks also make the news. That's literally it. Sorry your small island is functionally meaningless senpai.
I am aware the structure of the UK government, but I do not really keep track of the politics of the UK beside the whole Brexit/Scottish separatism thing. Honestly, why would anyone spend their time keeping track of the internal dealings of a washed up nation? At least the British still have a military better than most Europeans.
We have PBS and NPR that closely report on your politics when you have an election for PM, or in special cases such as Brexit and the Scotland secession referendum.
And theyre totally cucked too. Endless praise of labour party, open border immigration and the EU. Criticism against UKIP, Farrage and Brexit and all of it is done with "muh feels" as an argument.
>b-b-b-b-but britain wont get be part of a happy euro family
An actual argument. Redditors love NPR and all of our liberals claim it is unbiased.
Yeah this sounds about right, we nearly had to send the two Yank exchange students back because we realised they weren't pretending to be retarded.
Yes, but only because I go out of my to follow Brit politics. Other than the people like me who do that, no one here really has any idea what goes on over there.
the only thing I've ever seen is our leftist networks saying UKIP is evil and Remain is good
sometimes I check out your parliament sessions for the sick bantz.
No, they are partially hereditary.
There are fundamental constitutional differences that say otherwise.
Backbone to do what? Be revolutionaries for no point, ruled over by those who only wished to destroy the institutions of power, so they could switch it with their own? France has been a top-down bureaucracy with no soul ever since.
I bet you're one of the same people who like to claim to be traditional, too?
There is a queen, a mudkip party, and labourye party however the hell you people spell it, i threw in an extra y u and e cause i know you like that shit.
Well, civics is required to graduate high school, 80something% of American graduate highschool, so allowing for forgetfulness I'd say at least 60something% of Americans know American politics.
Our national broadcaster gets $1billion a year from the government, which is now led by an ultra-SJW party. Sup Forums is sadly my most reliable source of information regarding politics and world/cultural habbenings.
The only thing that our news reports on is the Royal Family. The young ones. So when that prince or whatever he is got married.
I always thought that Bong politics were the same shit as ours just with different titles
Our news coverage doesn't cover much outside of the states. The only time we care about other countries is if you've been attacked.
The House of Commons is one of your two branches of Parliament the other being the House of Lords.
If you think that increasing government gives you 'freedom;, then you're an idiot who doesn't understand what your founders fought for. There is NO place for negotiation of freedom for convenience for liberty.
You are no longer a republic before a democracy. Because of that 'freedom' for the federal government, it has removed the power of the Constitution as the ONLY federal body of laws that is to be followed by all States, and no longer can States really make their own laws without being shot down by federalist bureaucrats.
But tell the world again how you are 'truly' free when your Constitution is hanging on by the skin of its teeth.
>Do Americans know anything of British politics?
Depends on the Americans. Some americans don't know squat, some know a lot.
>Is it covered a lot when we have our elections?
election day gets cover somewhat. You see more on Cspan then the main networks.
>Just kinda thought about considering how much the American election is ocvered on our news networks.
>Like do you even know what the house of commons is?
Yes, And the main parties are conservative (Currently in power, somewhat close to our democrats) Labour (used to be hardcore socialists, then Tony Blair made them more reasonable, now they are led by a old guard socialist), Liberal Democrats (Third party for the most part, but they got killed last election), then the Scottish independent party. There is the UKIP that polled well but didn't earn many seats. Also there are Northern Irish parties that I know fuckall about.
No
I literally just asked in another thread about Brexit.
In all honesty, all it really takes is someone like you to bring it up and people will flock to thread and read up on all the posts and all the arguments about this or that
What's the difference between the house of commons and the house of lords?
When I learned about it in government class all they said was "it's like our, but different."
Why would we need to learn about inbred island
British history
>backward savages saved by rome
>william the conqueror
>fuck the french
>fuck the spanish
>fuck ireland
>fuck the pope
>create jewish capitalism and rape the world
>muh navy
>america help! germany is winning
>give zionists exactly what they want
>hitler take czechoslovakia pls
>get bombed to shit
>lose everything
>get invaded by muslims
>ugliest nation on earth and can't even speak their own language properly
British history
No. the news doesn't report on foreign elections at all except maybe an afterthought. We did have some parlimentarian woman from labor come on fox one day and say why she wanted a brexit. but that lasted like 15 minutes. Fox news in general is pretty sympathetic to brexit on the rare occasions it does show up.
It's nothing like yours whatsoever.
Being the U.S. or allied with the U.S.
>British humor
>Do Americans know anything of British politics?
No, why should we care about politics on some irrelevant island?
>Is it covered a lot when we have our elections?
It isn't at all.
>Just kinda thought about considering how much the American election is ocvered on our news networks.
Not at all. No news network has anything about foreign politics because who gives a shit?
>Like do you even know what the house of commons is?
It's one of your legislatures, innit? Like the Senate. Isn't the other one unelected? Do you really think it's okay to have an unelected legislature? I mean, you got a fucking queen so, yeah, you probably do.
That picture looks like a card tournament, like some people are bout to play Magic at that table.
Agreed, it seems this site is one of the last places where you can get unfiltered news. It's incredible.
I can't even discuss politics with my friends in real life anymore. They all accept everything they hear on the news at face value, and the ones who are slightly suspicious think NPR is the "truth" alternative without realizing npr is government funded and even worse.
We literally no nothing about you except that parliament is your congress, the prime minister is your president, and that the queen is both your super-president as well as being utterly powerless.
First world is capitalist, third is communist. Congratulations on being third world$
Dont you guys have sharia law? I thought that is how it works.
You forgot the best part
> 1812 fuck the yanks
don't be willfully retarded
>1st world is US and allies
>2nd world is USSR and allies
>3rd world is any non-aligned country
after the cold war the 2nd world disappeared so everything left over is now "3rd world" by default
We're the USA
Our SJWs think "We should be able to be rich and elite ourselves!"
Europe has thousands of years of people saying "Some are rich and elite and some aren't, deal with it"
Pretty sure the French Revolution was all about people not dealing with it
Status Quo Antebellum faggot.
It's not a monarchy, were a democratic republic that just fakes being a monarchy.
