Star Trek General

Dirty Joke edition

Sisko: You the dahm ferengi wuts been whackin' in muh cargo bay?
Quark: Huh, huh, huh, huh, uhhhh... no? That must have been some other ferangi.
Rom: Yeah. It was a FOREIGNER!!

How come every female crew member on star trek looks like an out of work fitness instructor or a middle aged gold digger?

"Back at home she was was a 5. but in this universe shes a 9!"

You ever notice that in over FIVE iterations of the same series, not once has the federation ever had a gay crew member?

Kind of makes you wonder whats going on behind closed doors...

I mean, what the fuck are they doing to gay people? Its like they don't exist. They have fucking symbiotes that crawl up your ass and live inside you, but I'm starting to think the Star Trek universe is much darker than we realized.

At some point in history, there must have been a purge...

Mental illness was cured centuries ago in the Federation, including homosexuality. That's a great success.

I love the fact that the second person to make contact with the prohets was in fact, a farangi

What do they do then, strap you to a chair and make you watch porn until you like it?

Your abnormality is detected and fixed in-utero.

Klingons are not afraid to love

no they just don't molest you making you a faggot in the first place..

C'mon, star trek is about as progressive as a clan rally.

People don't watch the show because it PRO-gressive, they watch it because its RE-gressive

We want to go back to a time when we could still support things like Desegregation and Affirmative Action and not have to face the consequences of our actions.

What we want is show that reminds us of all the benefits of progress without any of its responsibilities.

The federation is supposedly a society that exists without money. Isn't it convenient how they just gloss over how that's supposed to happen?

We all know the basic idea is to expand the social welfare net, but everytime someone asks the question, "How do we do that?" People just cough and mumble something about social responsibility instead of saying, "Give them more money"

I mean, thats the whole fucking problem with the federation, isn't it? Everybody has the same quarters, the same alotment, everybody is treated as an equal and the only respect they are afforded is based on their merit.

Except when you see all the officers quarters, they are bigger. The only people you ever see in this world are officers and diplomats, the crem' de crem' of society.

And look how they live! Packed tightly into cramped little boxes, they have no lives outside of their jobs, their understanding of social nuances is minimal at best...

If thats your future you can fucking forget it. Star Trek is space for dumb people.

Star Trek is one of those holdovers from the bygone era of television thats supposed to give you that warm and fuzzy feeling. Its supposed to make you feel good about capitulating to state and corporate pressure, its themes are authoritarian in nature.

It hardly represents a democracy at all. It has none of its merits and all of its pittfalls.

The people in star trek live in a fucking bubble. They duck their heads in the sand and pretend like nothings wrong when EVERYTHING is wrong.

The entire show is like downing a can of zoloft, it makes you feel like your head is on a balloon.

The people of star trek have the EXACT same problems they had yesterday. Nothing has changed except the narrative. Everything is set to the tune of inspirational classical music and has the feel of standing in an elevator with an uncomfortable expression on your face like your trying to hold in a fart.

Its central message is that if we pretend everything is all right, then it will be.

When has that ever been true?

The idea that you can somehow constantly expose yourself to danger and yet no one ever dies or suffers debilitating injury, the idea that empires can someone stand on the brink of war and dangle off the precipice indefinitely, the idea that no civilian ever gets harmed or that anyone in the military could ever do wrong...

They constantly debate the morals and ethics of their dilemmas, like naive little school children, its a wonder that between all their pining that they have any time to act.

Everything that takes place in star trek is like something written by a first year philosophy student, is morals are baseless and accusatory, the assumption is not only that one SHOULD always do the right thing, but that they CAN.

This is absurd. Since when is the moral choice ever the CORRECT choice? Everything we have learned about the universe has taught us that the decisions which benefit us the most, both as individuals and as a community, fly in the face of everything we've been taught is "moral" or "correct".

A society founded on moral principles would be a literal hellscape. The federation is guilty of nothing less than enforcing thought crime.

Why did you make this thread if you hate Star Trek?

>IP counter isn't increasing and the thread isn't bumping when you post
That's how

People who join the military aren't our best and brightest. They are societies rejects. They are the ones who could not get by in a peaceful civilized society and insisted on violence as a way of life. They could not function in a civilized society, they are too incompetent to perform any other function than serve as welfare cases for the state.

Its supposed to be a better world.
But all it does is make us feel better about ourselves.
If we saw a better world, it would make us sad.
