This country is being sold to billionaires, young people are basically forced to become debt slaves to live like their parents did, tech companies are gaining more and more power including surveillance, the job market is flooded with cheap unskilled labor. People should be fucking pissed and writing songs about it and channeling that anger into music like the punks were in the 70s/80s or the mods and vietnam protesters were in the 60s. But they're not, the disaffected and displaced American youth of today are just writing wussy post-ironic detached breakup songs or escapist meme trap rap glorifying hedonism.

This is a really shit time right now, people are pissed, and art is one thing that can help maybe influence change and bring people together. We need people speaking out and actually making powerful music, not the same rehash bullshit or delegating it to the rap/pop producers. We need kids grabbing their guitars or synths and screaming their fucking heads off. We need a cultural reaction for the 2010s in response to all the bullshit going on in the Western world, but we're not getting one, and it's a damn shame.
