POST THE PATRICIAN SONATAS

youtube.com/watch?v=YE2iyBRmA_g

Scarlatti sucks.

kys

Hey guys, I would make a separate thread for this but I doubt anybody would know anything about it. I found this software called auralia and musition, which is for ear training and music theory/transcription respectively. Does anyone here have any experience with either of them? I learn better with a pre-made curriculum and they seem to be pretty well done

kill yourself

scarlatti

Shit taste.

Post continents that haven't produced a single notable composer

>implying
WE

every continent except for europe

Oceania

Composing for piano solo should be a lot easier than string quartets, so please tell me my ears still work and this isn't as awful as my other tries.

clyp.it/kcbvqdm2

Do you want constructive criticism?

I think it's fine as a beginning, now develop the piece.

I'd love constructive criticism. Also, if you didn't see it, last thread I posted my attempts at writing string quartets. It was awful, basically. I also bought a composition book but I'm waiting for it to arrive

It fucking sucks.

That's very constructive! Thank you

What about Mozart

>constructive criticism
see . Not to put you down, but at the moment it feels very basic. IT could be that it's 20 seconds long, but you need more development before you can continue. If you don't think you can come up with a way to deveolp it, push yourself a bit, but if you can't after pushing cut yourself loose and move on. That's what I do. If I can't further an idea I either go to another (depending on the piece) or stop and move on.

he said notable

>tell me my ears still work

Why, were you in a head-on collision?

...

Well, it is very basic indeed. I think I will keep the motives and try to rework it, thanks for the advice

Nice to see him getting some love here. One of my favorite composers.

>Ladies and gentlemen, we can finally answer, “Who’s the Greatest Film Composer of All Time”? It’s John Williams. Yes, the No. 1 choice for Steven Spielberg and George Lucas is apparently also our readers’ top pick. Surprisingly, the 82-year-old composer came out on top after a hard, hard round that involved both Ennio Morricone and Philip Glass. Our hats are off to you.

Let me know how bad you cringe at this

>elfman beats Elmer Bernstein
>no Jerry Goldsmith

Never post this shit ever again.

you should tell , the fucking nigger, to never post him here.
>tfw you love star wars but since outgrowing your retardation you only enjoy the nostalgic elements of the music score and not the actual score that much.

I'm surprised you didn't mention my inclusion user

>posts a caribbean pirate
ok

does anyone else think the "backdoor progression" sounds tacky as fuck?

>backdoor progression
>Jazz terminology in a classical thread
GTFO

>love star wars
Fuck off redditshit.

>not loving this qt jew
>calling it Redditshit
The music is reddit tier, but wanting to breed this jew is not reddit faggot

>everything i dont like is reddit

how obsessed are u

I'm not that contrarian. I mean, course he should be knocked out in the first round but he's a bit too iconic to expect to exclude him entirely. Also I see Goldsmith is a little pip in the corner. Sad.

I'm not sure it has a name in the classical tradition. Probably because its built so heavily on the mixolydian.

>Knowing Hack Zimmer is trash in contrarian
He shouldn't even be on the list, let along Trent Reznor. Seriously, if they had knowledge or integrity they wouldn't even mention him. He also steal music just like John Williams. I don't remember the piece but someone posted it once in a /classical/ thread and it wasn't even lifting it was like sue-able stealing.

Greenwood should have made it to the finals if not won altogether

I'm just saying you have to be realistic about what would be in a mainstream contest of best movie composer. Unfortunately Hans Zimmer comes with that territory.

I get what your saying, but the fact he's on the list invalidates it. Like you can't actually have him on one of those lists unless it's for "most successful" or "my personal favorite". But "best of all time" invalidates their opinion, like if I was to say the greatest film ever made is Avengers. It's not, it's one of the best selling but far from the best ever.

Any composer that won an oscar couldn't realistically be excluded. Just knock him out in round one, not a big deal. We all agree its a stupid list.

>tfw my prostate massager arrived
Music for this feel?

Nice but how can you compare it to Hermann Goldsmith or Bernstein?

am I blind or is Korngold not even on here for some reason

Which model?
Here's music for that feel though
youtube.com/watch?v=36Y_ztEW1NE

neither is Aaron Copland

>miserere mei deus
>forgive me god
What did he mean by this?

omg i'm so sorry lol I just thought it was suitable because it's heavenly music.
Sorry user.

you should ask god for forgiveness tho

Quick question, is Stravinsky's Je de Cartes and Scenes de ballet Neoclassical?

yes

thank you, I kind of thought it was but I'm not the most familiar with Neoclassicism (I've not hear a lot outside of Stravinsky's work that happens to be that I've heard). Thank you :)

the aesthetic is more or less that the pieces follow classical conventions. The pieces have classical structure sonata/rondo what have you. The motives are more economical, pure music rather than bombastic and romantic sounding. Things tend to resolve in a timely manner as well. Other aspects such as tonality and rhythm can be thoroughly modern.

Recommend a piece of music that conveys the stillness of the earth at night with only the Moon light around?

john cage 4'33

A meme. Reeee.

From an RYM review, made me kek
>In 2010 I went to see a very similar live performance at the Montreal Jazz Festival. The Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier hall looked just about sold out, although as became clear after only the first song, many came on name recognition only. After the first blasting 6 minutes of atonal Metal Machine Reed guitar, Zorn's signature screaming sax and Anderson's violin compliment the crowd filled the silence with heckling and booeing. Zorn quickly fired back with "If you don't like it, get the fuck out of here!". And so went the night, half the crowd walked out including a humorously dressed upper class Quebecois who flung his tiny sweater over his shoulder and made an indignant remark.

What an absolute waste of money.

That MccCreesh Messiah is the best thing there, not too bad.

well, you're probably a shill, but no, I haven't heard of those but I have heard of musictheory.net and I'd suggest starting with their apps instead

that LPO Haydn symphony record looks promising

Sounds like the intro to a shitty pop song.

hi, i loev reddit and i love porgs! lol :) upboat pls. ha ha

Which one of the ''great'' composers are you guys unable to get into?
I personally can't wrap my head around how people can enjoy the music of Handel or Wagner

youtube.com/watch?v=vXD4tIp59L0

not a huge fan of bartok's, if i'm being perfectly honest

youtube.com/watch?v=u-i6IyH8aOI

Its only depressing and bleak because of how bad it is.

for me it's mahler - I generally like his music but I haven't had the time to read through his symphonies and get more than a very basic impression of them, and they end up feeling drawn out and I'm clueless as to their structure

This.

Stravinsky sounds like unmusical garbage to me.

>I personally can't wrap my head around how people can enjoy the music of Handel
It's music for people with double-digit IQ. It's saccharine, substanceless drivel that could only be thought up by a talentless fat cunt.

what tempo marking would be 100?

andante

awesome, thanks i appreciate it. I'm plugging this in and it doesn't have a way to change the tempo (only though markings). :)

I'll throw in for Handel as well. Also the only piece by Tchaikovsky I find that's worth a damn is symphony 6.

same for Bartok. I guess I'm just too brainlet

to be fair Bartok, though I like him quite a bit, I feel comes across as Shostakovitch with weaker melodies.
