Is hip-hop the only real outlet left to vent and express masculinity? > has hardcore beats that make thots go dumb on the dance floor > misogynistic, homophobic, offensive lyrics > gold chains and guns
You fucks ever notice how all soundcloud rappers have face tattoos, as if they don't care about themselves, and are mentally unbalanced and made to feel disposable by society? You'll literally find an auditorium of young men with ironic scribbles spanning their cheeks to their foreheads, it is so clear that the youth is wayward and disenfranchised. They are the walking rape case neanderthals who oppress everything and scare people, no wonder why lil "blank" has a carton of milk on his eyebrow and the monster energy drink logo on his adam's apple, he is a fucking failure with no foreseeable future or motivations, walking outside propels him into a slurry of pink ribbons and empowerment anthems. Why become a Eliot Rodger when you can act retarded and mumble rap about raping ghosts and choking bitches out while you're overdosing on fentaynl and nyquil? It doesn't matter to these people, they feel lost and goonish. All we get on the radio is faggy bullshit pop guitar edm music or soft core R'n'b. Where is the new punk rock?

Society is dead and castrated and there's no hope for the future barring a revolution. We're just resigning ourselves to existential dread. Our future was stolen from us in the shadows before we were born, we should be pissed, but we're placated by cheap entertainment and drugs to stay sedated. They want us that way, they don't want you fighting back, they want you to be a cog in the machine making them more dough.

That song is the best thing they've ever done. Ever. In fact, that's my song of the year.
Revolution towards what? Is the average person going to put down their videogames and weed long enough to do anything but stand in the street and chant mindless mantras with signs? Good luck with your revolution. The corporations own you.
Yeah it's pretty much rap and metal, outside of super obscure meme genres like PE and such, since those are they only genres where the artists actually still have the balls to do "rockstar" shit. Literally every other notable form of entertainment across film, TV, music etc has been irreversibly feminized. Rock is dead. I tried to give alt/indie a chance but watching the top act of 2017 (Brand New) willingly dismantle their careers over someone asking for some fucking nudes ages ago made me realize that I can't waste time with such a faggy soy genre. >Where is the new punk rock? It's all going to be Eminem Revival tier FUCK DRUMPF records. The only punk group which I saw generating any excitement in 2017 was PWR BTTM, until of course they decided to go the Brand New route and let #MeToo destroy their band as well.
Joshua Barnes

Music is in such a shit state right now when it should be thriving. We need the disaffected youth to channel their discontent and rage into music.
Chase Taylor
I feel like porn induced E.D goes further than a limp dick. He is right, we are sedated and self sabotaged. After a long day on the grind we collpase from exhaustion and malnutrition so we reach for a frozen pizza or drink sugar energy shit to stay awake, but we never do anything other than nothing. We are pathetic and accept everything the past generations have done to us, we really shouldn't be so appreciative, in a larger context we aren't ungrateful or spoiled, we are fucked. Young people got to have lives and live in houses and sang songs of the war and made differences and invented things. Things are just different now and I'm unsure how we escape this rut. Gender relations are damaged beyond recognition, racial adversity is always stimulated by the elites and a solution isn't in sight. Revolutionaries are now corporate.

desu i think any young kids making anything but rap music these days is kind of confused unless hes really talented
the point of music is to make people have fun and feel good, not express your ego and in general whether girls like your music is a good way to estimate this

if youre making anything other than rap today there's a good chance youre making music for bizarre reasons, instead of making music that people actually want to listen to. IMO most people who aren't gonna get intense training/practice in how to actually make legitimate music (technique, songwriting, harmony, transcribing assloads of pop songs if youre gonna make pop, probably you need to go to a conservatory or some shit if you wanna do art music... ) should just stick to whatever the "cool" genre is instead of wasting their time
Alexander Lopez
Fuck off you anti-creative conformist consumerist piece of shit
James Reyes
look im just giving you my opinion as someone who failed at making music as a young teenager. you can spend years practicing your ass off to achieve screaming females level success or just sing about your emotions over a cool beat. not sure why anyone would choose #1 other than some motivations that have nothing to do with making music people like or actually having some amount of success in music
Ayden Perry
fucking agreed 110%

>hip hop >cool We've reached the point HH is a parody of its former self, and is at the border of collapse. Soon enough, hip hop will be "dad hop". All forms of it. Also, hip hop isn't even the most popular or "cool" (by the masses' standards), that's reggaeton.

thats funny cause i think rap now is better than any time i've heard it. cause people actually make songs people wanna listen to. most rappers who are good at rapping dont bother to make songs anyone actually wants to hear. thats why someone like big pun is such a legend - cause he combined being good at rapping with actually making songs people wanna listen to. if you can only choose 1 choose making songs people actually wanna listen to.otherwise youre gonna become hopsin or some shit and spend 10 years writing songs about how everyone is retarded for not listening to you rap about how everyone is retarded
Jonathan Gonzalez

>rap is gud cuz pipol want to listen to rap Most people want to listen to reggaeton, rap is dead, memerap is not a real genre and will age like putrid milk. Nobody will listen to lil wathever in 10 years, not even ironically. Nobody will even remember today's tattoo-faced "artists" from soundcloud.

disagree, i still remember 50 cent, r kelly, lil jon, jermaine dupri, sum 41, linkin park, whatever other shit everyone hated from the early 00s the edgy kids hated cause they were too busy listening to operation ivy or whatever shit. not to make fun of opreation ivy or whoever else cause some of their songs are the shit. i dont really know any raggaeton cause i dont know spanish.
Carter James
meanwhile if you look up new songs from circa 2k7 pitchfork famous artists they're getting barely 30k youtube views a piece. look up los campesinos, they were the shit. they're still the shit (good music, vocalist actually sings now, incredibly clever songwriting, just overall incredibly improve since their heyday) and they get 10-50k views. normie music has staying value and the artist stuff doesnt IME. go look up arab on radar and see how many people are playing that now. meanwhile that was the hippest shit way back when right
Thomas Russell
Remember when that shitty trend of Dancehall shit spawned from Drake and then it was dead within a month? Thats how reggaeton is right now. Dead. The only type of music that young people listen to now is generic trap and r&b trash, occasional entry-level "metalhead", or art hoe who listens to entry-level everything.
Brayden Cruz

>i dont really know any raggaeton cause i dont know spanish. Then you don't go out much. DES PA CI TO. As opposed to soundcloud rap, Linkin Park, Sum 41, etc were major bands signed to big labels and played on MTV constantly, that's why you remember them. These "lil" soundcloud rappers come and go, I honestly can't tell one apart from the other, and the fad can't last for too long. I mean, it was dated before it started.

which should mean we'll have a comeback on genuine music and talent in the 20's like the early 90's had, hopefully
You're sorely mistaken my boy. Nationalist revolution.

I was under the assumption that we were talking about stuff like 6ix9ine or lil xan (wikipedia says lil xan is on Columbia, 6ix9ine is on some random but is probably gonna be getting panda level airplay if stuff keeps up) or whatever not random stuff nobody actually listens to. I can't really comment on the whole soundcloud situation cause i only go on there to listen to music from irl friends
Jaxon Murphy
Rock is rising again through rap. The problem with rock is the limited production and culture. A lot of normalfags (specifically black people) will listen to these rappers with heavy rock influences but not a band because of appearance. The familiar hip hop production also helps like I stated before. People love the vocals and screaming.
Now that I think about it. This is why a lot of normalfags love Nirvana as well. Kurt looked like a regular dude. So he didn't scare them off.
Luis Richardson
gessafulstein does stuff like this. It may be the answer, but it needs more of a composition outside of a 4 on the floor and some spare vocals and synth loops.
Eli Johnson

Angsty young men should listen to this
Gavin Fisher
great album, it's true, but the problem we're talking about here is stuff like this is outdated. the angsty young men who are the issue here are 20 and younger right now and music like this sounds basically the same as dadrock to them. they have grown up in this plastic iphone xanax gender-neutral world and can't relate at all to the vast majority of human history, even sentiments that resonated with us (25ish-30 year olds) are like egyptian hieroglyphs to them and that doesn't even do justice to how bad this situation is.
a kid in the early 90s reaction to ancient egypt = "wow the mysteries of the past! badass mummies and swords and priests etc, i wonder what their lives were like as thinking feeling and experiencing humans fundamentally similar to myself?"
15 year old in 2017 reacts to ancient egyptian hieroglyphs = "lol that one looks like a dick this shit boring af bruh GUCCI lol lemme use snapchat to make the pharoah have kitty ears and sparkles"

Well, I'm 24 myself and don't hang around much with kids who are younger than me, but isn't that a little dramatic? I'm not disputing that they're largely fucked, but surely there are many among them who have genuine curiosity for stuff like the Egyptians and albums like that. Just because mass media and pop culture is changing and evolving so rapidly and in the direction it's going doesn't mean people in general have changed all of their values when it comes to rasing kids and such
