Dance Gavin Dance are my jam

I wouldn't call them emo but they're great mathy jams. /r/MathRock always seems to shit on them for not being trve MathRock though.

Favourite moment/song off this album?

>I THINK I'LL LEAVE THIS PLACE NOW

Ugh I hate that /emoe/ died. It was nice having a thread to discuss the stuff.
Anyway, some of my favourite mathy emo bands are
>Algernon Cadwallader
>This Town Needs Guns
>The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die
>Snowing
>Totorro

I do like the more punk stuff like Rites Of Spring and Drive Like Jehu, and pop-punk is great too

I heard Rites Of Spring and what are those vocals? They just sound like shit imo, whats the appeal?

Like American Football has great vocals that compliment the instrumental. Not saying ROF is shit but the vocals i cant stand

Fucking ew. That band epitomizes everything wrong with Post-Hardcore.

what album is this ? always see the cover but I'm stumped guys

check out this band called Tiny Moving Parts

Did the Emo Revival bubble break?

I haven't heard much new shit coming out from anyone other than the top 5 most popular bands or so in the genre.

:)

There is nothing ''mathy'' about this album
Its barely even emo you cuck

AF, TBLA, AC, Snowing, Tiny Moving Parts, etc are awesome but we all know them already. Let's post some more obscure stuff.

That was the "in" style in the Washington DC Punk scene at the time. The likes of Black Flag, Minor Threat etc. were all doing it to a certain extent.
Rites Of Spring were basically making the same kind of music just with "emo" lyrics. It's not meant to be sweet twinkly "oooh I'm so sad", it's meant to convey emotional pain & anger with its guttural vocals.
Not knocking the twinkle emo stuff, I love it too, but it's a different kind of aesthetic.

>nothing mathy about clean guitar tones, varied time signature changes and weird tunings

Thank you, these are all great, especially the Russian guys.

midwest pen pals
marietta
park jefferson
sorority noise is cool if you like pop-punkish emo or whatever

Summer death and the rest of Marietta's discography is my favorite. I have listened to their stuff over and over for a while now.

loved summer death but could never get into their second lp. the single is amazing tho.

I've been binge listening Merchant Ships and Midwest PenPals

Loveeeee this band

There is definitely a noticeable difference in production in the 2nd LP, I think one of the Mobo guys did it.

Any band similar to Heroin (San Diego)?

Oh My God Elephant is also really fucking good

I haven't seen anybody mention that band here in about seven years.

have you heard this?

moonraker

nice! but hard to find on youtube

Don't die

BUMP i miss /emoe/
