The name Gumboot Soup could suggest some kind of a mix rather than a thematic album, but maybe that’s presuming too much.

I’m not sure, but if it was a theme I’d imagine it’d be present for a few songs, aka the main part of the album, and the rest could be different.
You know, like an expanded EP of sorts. But again, if they can pull off a 5th album that is concise and thematic, I wouldn’t complain.

Gumboot could have another meaning obviously, as 'gum' was what they called rubber back in the days before vulcinisation, where it would melt in the heat and crack in the cold. Gumshoe is a word for detective as well, so it could have noire themes in it as well.
