DUDE
at least it has the best album art of the 5 this year desu
what do the rest of you autists think?
I like most of it desu, but because it's basically a bunch of B-Sides I don't see much value in relistening to the album the whole way through again
I'll definitely be listening to The Great Chain of Being, The Last Oasis and Greenhouse Heat Death a lot for the next few weeks
Pretty dope. I liked the lighter songs more than the heavier stuff which makes sense because sketches is my aoty. My favorite song is barefoot desert
Motu definitely had the best album art
stuck between Motu or poly for best cover art of 2017
>five albums released this year
absolute mad men
for album art
SOBE>Poly>MOTU>Gumboot>FMB
Its pretty god damn good. I dont likr all the songs but its a good album nonetheless.
I PREFER THE MUDDY WATER
What's the gimmick for this one
it's just leftover shit
there's a gimmick hard rock song in it though
it's just b-sides
4.5 albums this year Kappa
Great album
Muddy Water, I'm Sleepin' In and The Wheel are objectively the best tracks.
Is King Gizz having the most fun of any band right now?
Are their fans having the most fun of all music fans? Think about what a year it's been for both of them
Releasing mediocre album after mediocre album isn't very fun
That's strange because Muddy Water and The Wheel are definitely the worst to me
Honestly my second favorite release of theirs this year.
listening now. mixed emotions so far. big fan of theirs. amazing live
imagine not understanding what fun is
this t b h
dont get me wrong they have good ideas sometimes but like, spreading them out between 5 albums instead of one with all of the best tracks on it just leads to 5 boring albums when it could be one that's actually worth listening to
did you even listen to their albums this year? they are all radically distinct and each fit their own theme. Would be very bad to cram all into one album
I like this a lot. These are basically some bonus tracks of the previous 4; this album is messy and progresses awkwardly but the parts are much stronger than the whole. And the parts are very good.
no they aren't, they're samey and repetitive.
Dude, don't act like you even know what you're talking about.
i've listened to every project from them this year except this one which i plan on listening to tomorrow morning you retard. none of them are anything special or unique as full albums because all of the wank in the album gets boring to listen to. if they put all of their good ideas into one record it would be fine, but they spread it throughout five which, i think, would never work and always leave plenty of room for improvement, even if my favorite band for example was releasing five fucking records in a year.
Alright well I look forward to your rock n roll, microtonal, synth, metal, jazz, funk, prog, psych garage rock album that doesn't sound like a total mess of incohesive songs shoe-horned together. Ironically, that is basically what this new album is.
Would be solid without the few heavier songs. Why can't they make a consistently good album anymore?
The CHAD Lizard Gizzard
This is a nice album, it's sort of like an "Oddments 2", will be cool if they keep putting these out instead of being like other bands and not releasing B-sides for whatever reason.
Definitely you can see some of the flavor of where they're going though, like they went back and did some re-recording.
Really nice.
Now that they've got this out of their system, i hope they just focus on putting all their time and effort crafting one REALLY amazing album
I'm still waiting for a King Gizzard double album.
The gimmick? If you play both albums at the same time they fit together perfectly.
sounds like a dumb zaireeka or druqks
It gives me Dr. Seuss vibes for some reason, which I like
it's going to be a covers album
I don't know, I was enjoying it quite a bit, but chain feels like some generic hardrock song from the early 2000s. Completely breaks the flow of the album for me.
Trying not to let one song ruin the album for me, but it feels so out of place
it's a "songs album", it's not meant to flow coherently or have an over arching sound. take each song for what it is
Anyone has a free download link?
i'd be willing to bet it's on slsk
I really want them to do a live album with a really crazy set. I'm talking a really legendary show where they play stuff from throughout their discography. Eyes Like the Sky live would be rad.
Superposition is the weirdest song by them ever imo. I like it though.
Down the Sink sounds kind of like The Strokes.
This, it's a colourful soup of assorted sounds as the title/cover would suggest
whats the gimmick for this one
im a total gizzhead
>The Great Chain of Being
It's not their best work but like all the 2017 quints, it's a very enjoyable listen and it's fun to hear a band that can play so many different styles so seamlessly.
FMB > Poly > MOTU > Soup > Sketches >>>>>>>> 90% of rock that came out this year anyway
So it's a b-sides album
>implying polygondwandaland isn't consistently good
>implying the heavier songs aren't fucking SICK
All that aside, I reckon sticking to a certain concept for an album restricts your ability to make good songs for that album a bit. Like in nonagon, the songs fitting together is just as important as their quality if not moreso, so you end up with some lower than excellent quality songs for the same of the cohesion of the overall album, or in Flying Microtonal Banana, you need to have microtonal tunes more than you need to have an amazing song, etc. I would say they should tone down the conceptuality of their albums but it's blatantly obvious that the reason why they're so prolific and popular, and their entire driving force is their insatiable hunger for creative ideas and new sounds, so it's pretty much impossible.
It's their second worst this year
>have le nu garage rock sound
>make slow pop songs too
>use krautrock structures in your garage rock songs
>use microtonal notes in your garage rock songs
>add spoken word to your krautrock garage rock songs
>make an elevator jazz/rock album because you're a prog fan
>use polyrhythms in your garage rock songs
>add all into a single album
in what world are these different enough to warrant their own distinct genres is beyond me, it's fucking pop and rock music
holy shit you're actually this mad lmao
What the fuck does it matter what sounds they use if they fit together in an interesting way and sound good?
I hope their next album revisits the sound of the I'm In Your Mind Fuzz medley. I fucking LOVE that psychidelic, brittle sound, gimme gimme
I'm not mad, I actually like this band
Okay lol calm down, I didn't say these were bad things or that they suck, FMB is probably my aoty, and I like Nonagon and Poly too. Happy new year
Happy new year to you too friendo
junkee.com
I wouldn't mind that at all, actually
So is it any good?
It's fun
Yes
It's got some real bangers in it, a good album, not amazing, but good, worth a listen and much more.
This isn't really an album. Its just songs they made this year and couldn't fit within their albums
