Engineer Galen Erso (Mads Mikkelsen) is conscripted by Imperial Director Orson Krennic (Ben Mendehlson) to assist in the construction of the Death Star. His wife, Lyra, is killed in the process and their daughter, Jyn, becomes a fugitive.
Years later, Jyn (Felicity Jones) has become a criminal, and is rescued from an Imperial prison by Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), a member of the Rebel Alliance, and K2S0 (Alan Tuddyk), a reprogrammed Imperial droid. Andor reveals they Rebellion needs Jyn's help to sabotage the Death Star before it becomes operational.
As they attempt to escape, they come across renegade pilot Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed), blind monk Chirrut Imwe (Donnie Yen) and freelance assassin Baze Malbus (Jiang Wen), who lead them to Resistance fighter Saw Guerrera (Forest Whitaker) for help in escaping from the planet. Krennic activates the Death Star and destroys the planet, killing Guerrra, but the group manages to flee back to the Rebel base on Yavin IV.
Jyn learns Galen has sent the Rebellion a coded message offering his help to destroy the Death Star, and is persuaded to help. Jyn and her crew then travel to a Imperial outpost on another planet to rescue Galen, but he is fatally shot in a failed attempt to escape and tells Jyn the Death Star's plans, including the secret to destroy it, are on a weapons development research facility on planet Scarif.
Krennic is convinced that the Rebels can't destroy the Death Star, but is assigned there under Darth Vader's supervision, although he conspires to dispose of Vader, even arranging for him to be injured in a confrontation with the Rebels.
Returning to Yavin IV, the Rebels leaders believe the Death Star cannot be destroyed now that Galen is dead, but Jyn rallies them to fight. The team arrives in Scarif and Jyn, Andor and K2S0 infiltrate the facility, disabling the planetary shields and allowing the Rebels to launch an offensive against the facility. K2S0, Imwe, Malbus and Rhook sacrifice themselves to bid Jyn and Andor enough time to escape with the plans as most of the Rebel fleet is slaughtered by Vader and his forces.
Krennic concedes defeat and admits that the plans were stolen. Vader kills him and the pursues Jyn and Andor's ship, catching up to them only to learn they've already delivered the plans to Princess Leia to be escorted to Alderaan. Vader kills Jyn and Andor and leaves in pursuit of Leia's vessel.

>The team arrives in Scarif and Jyn, Andor and K2S0 infiltrate the facility, disabling the planetary shields and allowing the Rebels to launch an offensive against the facility
How many times has this fucking happened in the Star Wars movies, pretty sure it was the same shit in the last one.
I guess it's interesting that everyone dies though
Lincoln Jackson
Why do they even need le mary sue for this?
Luke Cooper
>rumored spoilers Features ONE (1) plot point that couldn't be guessed immediately and contributes to star wars lore.
Dylan Long
Her father is involved, I guess.
Camden Myers
>Mastered space travel >Don't have email Am I really supposed to believe that the plans would need to be delivered by a fucking USB drive?
John Hernandez
Why do people always believe blockbusters will be full of twists and turns when these spoilers come out? Most movies are pretty easily laid out by trailers and TV spots.
Lincoln Sanchez
Is Snoke in this one?
Lincoln Thomas
why does this thread keep getting posted with these same replies
Dylan Ward
No.
Brandon Taylor
Is there any big reveal just to give excitement for VIII or is that it?
Juan Butler
once again, men do everything difficult and women just wreck everything
Wyatt Fisher
I expect guaranteed successes to be well written. Any person with a brain could be given the basic story (a group of rebels steal death star plans, because if her father) and come up with the same shitty plot they are doing. The only exception is including Coruscant.
Caleb Williams
Snoke the irrelevant is still in the Outer Rim at the time.
John Adams
Those don't sound real. Jyn is with Saw before Rogue One.
Jyn is not rescued on Jedha, it's actually Wobani. Galen is on Eadu.
I'd assume they don't recruit the squad after Yavin 4.
Isaiah Cook
No. Plageuis is still plotting in the Outer Rim
Brayden Diaz
>brought in for construction of Death Star
I guess they mean glorified tech support when they couldn't figure out Geonosian engineering?
Andrew Hughes
BUT WE ALREADY KNOW THE SECRET TO DESTROYING IT
BUILDING SO MUCH THE STORY AROUND A PLOT POINT WE ALREADY KNOW IS FUCKING INSANE
I KNOW TENSION IS AN ILLUSION IN MOVIES BUT WITH THIS SHIT IT IS EVEN HARDER TO CREATE IT, NO RISK
THOUGH THAT ENDING SOUNDS OKAY IF THEY ACTUALLY HAVE THE BALLS TO GO WITH IT, WHICH I DOUBT, I BET ONE OF THE RESHOOTS WAS FOR A HAPPIER ENDING
Daniel Cook
>There are still people that think Snoke is Plageuis
HAHAHAHAHAHA
Prequelfags never learn.
Logan Cook
No.
In Catalyst it explains Krennic got Poggle to start building the Death Star with Geonosian workers. They built the facility but the Superlaser was something entirely different that they needed Galen to help out. He ends up escaping but Krennic catches up to him and forces him to finish his research on the super laser.
Eli Nguyen
user, don't you want to go watch the entire predictable movie just to see if the ending is as "leaked"?
Jason James
>mfw no Roger One movie
Xavier Thomas
HAHAHHAAH JJnufags never learn.
Jayden Taylor
Nope. It goes:
Jyn flashback, mother dies > Flashforward to Jyn in Imperial POW camp on a planet called Wobani > Jyn gets saved by Rebels > She's brought back to Yavin > Learns her father sent the transmission > They leave for Jedha > They recruit Chirrut > Death Star blows up Jedha > Saw dies > Meet up back at Yavin > They sneak onto Scarif > Steal Death Star plans > Transmit them > Vader kills them all
General outline
Liam Parker
If you think that a Disney movie is going to feature the entire cast of the movie being murdered including the protagonist who is a strong female woman, then I hope you're right but you're probably wrong.
Jaxson Clark
>Krennic activates the Death Star and destroys the planet, killing Guerrra, but the group manages to flee back to the Rebel base on Yavin IV.
Hold up. Are they really going to destroy a planet which also contains Imperial facilities to get one fugitive which at that point cannot be considered in anyway a direct danger to the Empire?
It's like these retards think the prequels were because it didn't have a giant battle station blowing up a planet and now they just shoehorn it into every movie.
Lucas Garcia
>Jyn >Dying in SW movie in the current year
BS. I'd believe that she killed Darth Vader and Emperor at the same time before believing that she died at the end of the film. White female characters are perfect and untouchable
Thomas Diaz
Well it's in the trailer so yes. They introduce an ancient Jedi planet and destroy it 40 minutes later. All while they escape the explosion by flying along the ground instead of into space.
Jackson Turner
>>delivered by USB drive
R2 needed to deliver the plans manually. All email/fax servers have been in Imperial control for years. It's the first place they would look.
Jaxson Reyes
If, IF it happens it will be off screen so that for the next 12 months people can go "12 Reasons Jyn Survived Vader And 8 Reasons We Can Expect To See Her In Episode VIII"
Asher Flores
>he thinks some minor character mentioned in a throwaway line in a prequel movie will ever be in a movie
HAHAHA, prequelfags and EUfags are now one and the same.
Glorious!
Jacob Harris
What about Saw?
Michael Rodriguez
I think thats fake because in ANH Tarkin actually says to test this stations power on ALderaan clearly implying its never been fired before. youtube.com/watch?v=p0qLzsIhUMk at 1 minute. They wouldn't go that far aginst the established canon would they?
Aaron Brooks
Pretty sure those are bs rumors. The planets are mixed up for one.
Landon Edwards
Rekt
Jonathan Scott
>plaggie >minor character star wars """""""""""""fans"""""""""""""""
Jack Lopez
What could this be if not deathstar? Warp core breach on a star destroyer?
Jose Carter
Whoops.
Samuel Clark
Do we get any decent fight or any decent cameo/cliffhanger, or relevant thing to Star Wars lore?
Sebastian Phillips
Sounds shit
There's mini superlasers on Geonosis in the foundry
Schematics from AOTC show the superlaser
Robert Brown
He probably meant fired it at full power in its finished state, this is probably at 10% firing power for calibration for testing
Cooper King
His EU/neoEU back story is irrelevant. It's a bone for eufags, that has no effect on the story or overarching plot of the films.
>Plagues >known to anyone but EUfags
I can't wait for all the tears next Christmas. "But how could Disney pass up the chance to use the iconic Plagues character!?!?"
Noah Phillips
Seems way less than 10% for a linear scale (but then, it needn't be)
Looks like about a few gigatons worth of TNT in the trailer; we could make a bomb that big
Gabriel Nelson
TFA already made Han Solo to be some kind of legendary smuggler (earning him more galactic fame than his role in bringing down two Deathstars), and the Millenium Falcon's ability to make the Kessel Run in X parsecs a legendary feat. It's already tromping on the OT pretty hard tbqh.
Adam Peterson
It's a fairly decent book but I'm butchering it. It's explained designing the superlaser was incredibly challenging because they had nothing that could generate that amount of power until Krennic looked into Galen's kyber crystal research.
>There's mini superlasers on Geonosis in the foundry Where?
Tyler Bennett
>His EU/neoEU back story is irrelevant Pretty sure he's mentioned Onderon because they were a major Rebel extremist cell. Also, explain Jimmy Smitts reprising his role as Bail and Mon Mothma from deleted ROTS scenes, the Ghost and Rebel Hammerhead ships.
Angel Richardson
>Where?
Near the conveyors
They have mini-superlasers melting stuff
Liam Hall
>vader kills them all
that's what SHOULD happen but it ain't i'm sorry to say
Joseph Wood
>Onderon lol wtf is that?
Not that it matters since it has nothing to do wit the movie. Keep the wookiepdia gay shit to yourself kiddo.
> Jimmy Smitts reprising his role as Bail and Mon Mothma Actual character cameos from old movies. Have actual value for prequelfags, and have always been part of "canon."
> Ghost and Rebel Hammerhead ships Same as saw. Completely irrelevant to the plot but lets EUfags stroke it by pretending that the movies and EU are part of one continuity.
Disney's marketing department is top fucking notch.
Jack Wood
Those are just regular cutting lasers, had they been superlasers the planet would've been destroyed. Superlasers are hundreds of thousands times for powerful than lasers.
Jayden Garcia
10/10 got a good laugh out of me.
sad thing is people will take you seriously
Easton Martinez
Explain one thing.
>Andor reveals they Rebellion needs Jyn's help to sabotage the Death Star before it becomes operational.
Why?
Why do they NEED Mary Jyn's help?
Nathaniel Murphy
Stay is highschool kiddo. You've got much to learn.
I'll be drinking your tears next year when Snoke is still Snoke, and laughing about it.
Christian Green
Because her literal patriarch has to give her the deus ex machina.
Hudson Thompson
I think they just need her help getting her dad out of prison for whatever reason. I think by the time they go to scariff she's just one of the boys
Julian Perez
you can stop pretending. the joke was funny once.
>when Snoke is still Snoke All the fans know Snoke is his own unique character. Plaguies is long dead.
Levi Wright
If her dad has the knowledge and they know where he is, why would they need her?
Hes inprisoned, he doesnt need convincing...
Ayden Brooks
WATCH OUT RED SQUADRON!
LOOKS LIKE A NEW TIE FIGHTER IS ON MY TAI-AAAAAAAAAAARGG
Leo Diaz
>Plaguies is long dead. Well I'm glad we agree on that. Not even Disney is stupid enough to bring back such a shitty obscure character to prominence.
Parker Ramirez
Obi Wan and shields in 4, Han/Lea & shields in Jedi, fags in TFA
Joseph Brown
Dunno maybe his encoded message said "I'll only help ye fags if you bust my daughter out of imperial prison."
All will be revealed but I'm guessing he finds out his daughter (Jyn) is alive for the first time when she's thrown in jail.
Wyatt Diaz
We already know that some weird shit with "Whills" is going to be involved, confirmed on the soundtrack and in the novel leading to the movie. The leaks have nothing about it, which makes them a bit suspicious, doesn't it?
Nathan Jenkins
He's probably a prisoner so that they won't kill his daughter.
Jace King
I mean he's a prisoner being forced to create the super laser. That's pretty common knowledge at this point bruh
Xavier Sanchez
I hope they Noble Team this shit and just kill them all off one by one
Kayden Baker
TIE-JUST
Landon Edwards
Even George Lucas couldn't make movie which you couldn't possibly spoil to anyone despite knowing all the plot twists. Because there are none.
Landon Martinez
I think this all depends on the opening act. Maybe Galen thinks Jyn is dead along with his wife? Maybe he's been lied to for years that his daughter is dead and upon hearing that she's alive and inprisoned he seeks the help of the rebels to do something about it?
Grayson Cooper
No word of that big room with the hooded figure and the bacta tank?
