I really liked Timbaland's beats during his peak years, but I always found his voice REALLY cheesy sounding. And cheese can be okay, especially in rnb, but the production was so awesome otherwise and he sounded so douchey, like some Miami cheeseball.

Rnb singers actually had to be strong singers in the 90s, given the style's demands at that time. After Rihanna it seems more like you just need to sound like a bored pornstar, or do that pseudo-jazzy warble thing.
