So what are you faggots music listening goals for this year?

so what are you faggots music listening goals for this year?

thats the dumbest question i've ever heard

music listening.....goals?

uhh....listen to some music that i enjoy?

think about setting some goals for something that matters OP, i.e. getting out of your mom's basement

this, last year i focused a lot on finding the best music of the year, this year i want no excuses

stop projecting neet fuck

To find a death grips album that doesnt suck major dick.

I've more or less stopped listening to music. My goal for 2018 is to never intentionally listen to a single album.

Collect .flac of everything I have instead of v0 mp3

My plan is to date a qt like that

more emo

None whatsoever. I don't see listening to music as a sport or a competition.

first, take a hiatus from music because I believe i have hearing damage

if i am okay to listen to music on more appropriate levels, I’ll return and listen to Highway 61 revisited and blonde on blonde. I’ve already heard highway 61 revisited, haven’t heard blonde on blonde yet. I’m making my way through Dylan’s discography.

Speaking of, anybody have any advice on hearing damage, tinnitus, hyperacusis, etc?

yea, prevent it

>sport or a competition
How about a hobby

>music listening goals

>music listening goals
jesus

going to more concerts maybe...or finding more time for music

I meant I believe i have a case, how can I tell for sure?

>any advice on hearing damage, tinnitus
it's pretty much unavoidable, especially if you go to shows regularly. you will probably not find many people really into music who don't have some hearing damage. it's irreversible, keep the volume down and wear ear plugs at shows to prevent further damage. and this is probably broscience, but I can't imagine that iems or closed headphones are good for hearing

go to a specialist

>have never been to a concert in my life

alright

i have like pain in my ears when i hear sounds but i can’t tell if it’s just a headache or ear ache or if it’s annoyance from hyperacusis

god damn it man

why are you here then

To find music I can actually play with people in the car.

were you around something very loud lately or is this just all the time?

i still have a part of my library as limewire mp3s lmao

yes it was blasted music from speakers

i used to listen to music too loud as well, which aggravated a minor ear injury I had already sustained; the initial injury caused me no long term issues

definitely get that checked, user. it's not the normal kind of damage I was talking about. it shouldn't be painful. that said, it could be something as simple as earwax causing the problem

the pain really isn’t too too bad just enough to irritate me... something makes me feel like mental irritability is playing a part

do you think going in and trying to clear my ears out gently is a good idea or could I just fuck things up further?

>the initial injury caused me no long term issues
didn't it?

For listening I want to listen to all the entry level/classic shit that I just haven't gotten around to like Radiohead and more Beatles, just so that I actually know what people here are talking about.

For playing music, I just want to practice more.

>Don't put anything smaller than your elbow in your ear
is the standard advice. see a doctor, seriously

well now that I aggravated it sure but i meant before the past few days just occasional ringing that was completely unbothersome

will do.

I hope dearly I don’t lose music

I got a copy of the penguin guide to jazz. I've not heard of some of their crowned albums. Also I want to fully understand classical music, as Brahms, Bach, and Beehive are the only ones who really do it for me right now.

it's probably not that serious, I just mean there's no other way to diagnose or deal with it however small it is

>I got a copy of the penguin guide to jazz.
I have the newest edition, and apparently that only left a huge number of albums out.

I know what you mean. Hopefully I come across a good doctor for this kinda stuff

Not really a goal but I want to try to listen to a new release every week, I don't have a top 2017 album yet because I spent all of 2017 catching up on stuff I missed in 2016.

I got an older edition of their guide to jazz on CD. I can tell it's not fully comprehensive but it far surpasses my jazz knowledge and their crowned albums aren't just 50s - 60s jazz heyday fodder.

Habit, boredom, shitposting.

that occasional ringing is permanent damage down the line
these things aren't always immediately apparent, they show up as you age
take care of your ears kids

unless you're one of those douchebags who thinks they're cool because they don't wear earplugs and make fun of others who do, in which case you'll get what you deserve

>so what are you faggots music listening goals for this year?

I do have listening goals, lol.
Listening to the whole of pic related.
I'm on CD 9 already.

inb4
>the current year
>purchasing CDs

The initial injury was from when I was younger, my father had taken me to an indoor shooting range and for some reason I took my hearing protection off at some point, gunshot fucked me up.

Like I said, I’ve never been to a concert anyway. I’ve always wanted to attend one.

yes i have hearing damage and doctors have always advised me not to use headphones too much while listening to music. speakers are better because they don't play directly into your ear and will do less damage to your eardrums. and listen on moderate levels of course. personally I only blast music at times I really feel like it, and other play on lower levels so that I have it as sort of a background. that way you can listen to a lot more music without getting tired of it in the long run

that makes sense. thanks a lot
