>The Power Rangers are an intergalactic peacekeeping force that only recruits the greatest warriors of the Free Planets.
>The Rangers are powered by the Morphing Grid, an extradimensional field of energy accessible through the Zeo Crystal, which is hidden on Earth and protected by a impenetrable force field.
>Zordon is the Red Ranger. His nemesis is Lord Zedd, who was disfigured in a failed attempt to steal the Zeo Crystal. Lord Zedd seduces the Green Ranger, Rita Repulsa, to join him, and she attempts to steal the Zeo Crystal aided by Goldar, a monster created by Lord Zedd that can breach the force field.
>Zordon and the Rangers confront Rita and Goldar during the cretaceous period. The Rangers sacrifice themselves to disintegrate Goldar, while Zordon sacrifices his physical body to trap Rita, becoming a disembodied presence aboard the Command Center, operated by Alpha-5. The Rangers's Power Coins are subsequently lost.
>On present day, Rita is freed and sets to revive Goldar, while the Power Coins are found by Jason, Billy, Zack, Trini and Kimberly, five teenage outcasts from Angel's Grove, California. They develop superhuman abilities.
>Upon learning of Rita's escape, Zordon decides to recruit a new generation of Power Rangers, only to learn that the Power Coins have already bonded with the teens, who are rebellious and undisciplinated, unlike previous recruits. He nevertheless recruits them to stop Rita.
>The Power Rangers are then given 72 hours to retrieve several items scattered across the globe that contain Goldar's molecular essence before Rita.
>Jason, the Red Ranger, is a ex-football star whose promising career was ruined in a car accident.
>Kimberly, the Pink Ranger, is a former member of the popular clique at school who has returned from a prolongued absence as an edgy rebel due to a deep and personal secret.
>Billy, the Blue Ranger, is an introverted geek with OCD who quickly befriends Jason.
>Zack, the Black Ranger, is a hotheaded football player who's ashamed of his humble upbringing and uses arrogance to mask his insecurities.
>Trini, the Yellow Ranger, is an outcast who's constantly moving due to her father's job demands.
>Rita attempts to psychologically undermine the Rangers, using their insecurities against them, but they manage to overcome her influence.
>The Rangers also fight Rita's enforcers, the Puttie Patrol, several times. At one point they encounter "Super-Putties" whose skin is hard as stone.
>The Rangers also use the Dinozords to battle Goldar once he's revived by Rita.
