What's the best way to learn (eventually be pro) at guitar through autodidactical means?

>learn all positions of the major scale.
>learn major, minor, augmented, and diminished triad arpeggios
If you just do these two things thoroughly you can be a very good guitarist. Also, practice technique obviously but that's pretty self explanatory.

This is pretty good advice. I’d also learn the fundamentals of music theory then play the songs that you like and understand why you like them with this knowledge. A lot can be learnt from just understanding what you’re playing.

Play for 2-3 hours (or more) every single day. This applies to learning any instrument. Doesn't matter if you're just watching youtube lessons or looking at tabs.

If you enjoy it and get good, then you can learn how to read music or get lessons (not beginner) from a professional.

Why would you only learn how to read music after you get good?

Because you don't need to know how to read music to play the guitar.

What about classical guitar pieces?

Besides using common sense as a guideline for practicing, you really have to be honest with yourself when you are practicing. More of us see/saw guitar as a finger moving thing, forgetting that you are supposed to play music with those movements. Listen what you are playing, even though it is an exercise, and try to make it sound good.
As a guideline for what you should learn: some music theory, and some scale and chords books would be optimal. For every exercise you learn, learn to play at least one song. Even if it is a campfire song, so you won't forget your goal. And go to a guitar technician too and ask him to set your guitar before starting to play.
Good luck.

When you start reading music you can play music for other instruments. It's not only a good idea, but common sense mandatory.

Later on for sure but it shouldn’t be the first priority.

No. Learn it. Don't be a retard.

I can understand 20 years ago, but every single song on the planet has guitar tabs now. Not saying you shouldn't learn to read it, just that it doesn't really matter if all you want to do is learn how to play the guitar.

Sure, you can take it as a hobby, and not be serious at all about it, but I think OP was very clear: "eventually be pro"

I never said don’t learn it, ass

>Don't be a retard
Sorry, too late.

>implying I don’t know how to read
I read music but I didn't start of that way when I began playing. That’s what this fucking thread is about , how to learn to play the guitar in an effective way. OP is only starting off.

I know. And there are some people who are just starting to read music and already giving advice. We better let guitar teachers give their opinions.

>still implying

>still a retard
Anime image confirm.

>Still implying as a comeback
Just to let you know teaching yourself guitar
doesn’t make you a guitar teacher and implying only proves you can’t find any solid evidence to justify your statements. I guess that’s a wrap. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Enjoy being retard. Next time we can discuss more about tab repertoire and music reading. Don't forget to bring your waifu.

>Enjoy being retard
Best phrasing for a sentence ever. Ah, stereotypes are the best insults. Enjoy your sight reading. Goodbye

>Enjoy your sight reading.
Lol, I will. Enjoy playing anime intros.

Maybe we could someday transcribe anime intros and sight read together. Wouldn’t that be fun? Good luck

Not gay, but thanks for the offer.

Neither am I and you’re welcome

>scale
scales are for fish

play, play, play, play
