>>Muh rock >>Kids these days so dumb bc no guitar solos
It never ceases to amaze me that the vast majority of adults seem to think that rock IS THE ONLY true form of musi and shit all over everything else. Why? >>The younger generations have no right to comment on older music
Yet its ok for oldfags to whine about the latest pop.
Yeah, let's go back to the good ol' days of heavy screeching high amp guitars, spiky collars and chokers, bleached hair, pagan-addled lyrics, etc.

modern day rock music is boring thats why
Brody Nelson
Gen Z people shouldn't have any opinion, just consume, shill and buy merch.
Eli Green
Rock has been the most important music genre for the last 55 years, it's only recently that has fell of the spotliht . Also "pop" is not a specific genre of music and rock itself is pop more often than not. I bet half the things you listen to are rock influenced or derived.
Jaxson Myers
spotlight* fixed
John Morales
Rock comes from blues and jazz. So actually the vast majority of all pop music is blues-based: country, R&B, hip-hop, dance-pop, ska, reggae, calypso
Samuel Roberts
Baby Boomers/GenX shouldn't have opinions on pop music then.
Gabriel Peterson
Well rap is fucking terrible juvenile shit 95% of the time.
Colton Sanchez
Then as a Millennial I'll say this: Pop is trash Rock is trash 90% of published music isn't worth listening to Find things you like and stop acting like other's opinions matter.
Michael Jenkins
Pop music is a disposable product meant to extract the wealth from the stupidest people on the planet with the most cash to waste: teenagers.
Pop has no value. It is here today gone tomorrow.
What is poptamism but not consumer capitalism disguised as being liberal and open minded.
Why does it bother you that other people enjoy other forms of music so much? Are you mad kids still enjoy led zepplin?
Are you mad that other people arent consuming the same things you consume?
Doesnt that tell you something that young people hate the music of today and wish it were like yesterday? That there might be something wrong with pop music and not rock?
The person who came up with the concept of poptamism and rockism should be shot out of a cannon. It creates this psychotic paradigm where you are only allowed to listen to one type of music only.
Its some disgusting neoliberal competition.
In the old times you would listen to MJ and nirvana.
Daniel Parker
>another "why is rock so bad and rap so cool thread"
OP is a faggot. Why can't you like both?
Carson Taylor
It needs more of a trip hop/ stoner metal vibe. And the vocals haven't changed much either, they need better flow.
Xavier Nelson
>implying led zeppelin wasn't pop music
Carter Rodriguez
What are you talking about?
Aaron Sanders
Ways rock needs to improve. Like some directions it can try.
Most rock nowadays is either indie faggotry or cheesy teen pop rock. It refuses to be dirty.
Josiah Sanchez
It'll be the same thing about hip hop in about 40 years or even less
Easton Wilson
Why do you care so much?
Enjoy the cake!
Ayden Reed
truth is, you don't need to put in as much effort to make your music sound good nowadays.
in the 60s you had a 4-track recorder. you needed to be a talented guitar player, vocalist, or drummer, often all three, and you needed to translate your raw talent onto a fucking potato. 60s music sounds like shit because it was recorded either and simply left in mono, which objectively sounds like shit, or it was recorded in mono and "remastered" in stereo if it was popular, which still sounds like fucking crap because you've got an entire drum track panned all the way to the left and a noodly bass solo, vocals and effects panned to the right with nothing going on in the centre, which also sounds like shit.
nowadays, most kids have access to hi-fidelity recording software which provides all the means in the world to make their your sound good to appeal to the basest of human listening impulses, a.k.a. "good". because it's so easy to make your music sound clean as fuck, it disincentivizes these kids to work hard on their actual raw talent. all music sounds relatively good nowadays. which is why being a popular musician doesn't require being the most talented artist, it just requires you to be the best social media hypelord. that's the only thing that gets you ahead of the pack nowadays.
Isaiah Johnson
While rock isn't my favourite pop genre (that depends if you guys consider Jazs to be a pop genre) I really like it because most of it feels very genuine and I feel like it expresses more emotions than contemporary pop, contemporary rnb and hip hop. Rock sounds like it has a bigger canvas to be painted on than any other genre and I think that's why it was so mainstream for so long as pretentious and as autistic that sounds
Caleb Rogers
Depends on the music scene. Some scenes are purely live gig orientated. Find a good scene.
Parker Barnes
Hip hop, Jazz and rock do that much better than most electronic tracks. But... then burial comes to mind, and DJ Shadow.
Jordan Sanchez
There's plenty of dirty rock out there, pop rock isn't the only genre of rock dude.
Julian Hughes
I know, I go to local gigs all the time.
Saw a band doing something like the Birthday Party the other day. Shit lead singer lyrics though (female with "one of those" agendas).
Aiden Cruz
there are two types of rock. But really there are two types of music.
Dance music and listening music.
Rock started out as dance music in the 50's. Became listening music in the 60's and 70's till the punk kids pogo'd up to the prog faggots and slapped the shit out of them. the 80's was a wierd time of synths and hair metal. Then in the 90's it became le sad boy nirvana college rock thom yorke listening music again.
What rock has lost is its attitude.
Sebastian Martin
>unironically uses the word scene
Jacob Peterson
>What rock has lost is its attitude. People generally have lost attitude. Even rap suffers from that.
>not living in an isolated city
Hudson Gomez
>Yeah, let's go back to the good ol' days of heavy screeching high amp guitars, spiky collars and chokers, bleached hair, pagan-addled lyrics, etc.
>implying that any of those are bad things
Caleb Cox
What kind of shit rock were you listening to
Asher Stewart

Jackson Bell
I would love more pagan lyrics. Fuck the abrahamic/euphoric scum. Nihilists can stay though.
Samuel Robinson
This "faggot" happened to grow up listening to classic rock and 90s/2000s hip-hop on the radio. "this faggot " happens to have over 700 songs downloaded on his PC, most of which are 70s rock.
Ethan Richardson
Ask me how I know you're not a musician
Nathaniel Davis
So you're just a massive faggot then?
Nicholas Hughes
If that makes a fag then yes.
Better a seclusive fag than a menstrual Patriarchal Justice Warrior.
Evan Harris
>If that makes a fag then yes. Good boy.
Jordan Watson
holy shit guys over 700 songs! don't mess around with this dude! He's definitely delved deep into all of music and absolutely knowledgable enough to give an educated, nay genius oppinion based off of 70 or so albums.
Nathaniel Parker
>700 songs >implying this is a big library No wonder you made this shit thread, you barely scraped the surface of rock and pop music in general
Jaxon Green
So post-punk and new wave are a mix of dance and listening music
Asher Foster
>700 songs Are you 15?
Cameron Lewis
Pick up a god damn guitar or some drum sticks and improve rock then, assdick. Quit bitching about it and do something
Luke Morales

>Doesnt that tell you something that young people hate the music of today and wish it were like yesterday? That there might be something wrong with pop music and not rock? the internet also didn't exist 40 years ago, it was relatively difficult to find music outside the realm of pop. That said, it wasn't impossible- listen to some Zappa interviews about his early influences.

I would of gone the voice of reason route and stressed that there is no reason not to like both pop and rock.
But hip hop is gay kek. You should definitely listen to rock and even pop over it.
Evan Ross
Rock is popular music
Gabriel Jackson
>he doesn’t know what a scene is
Elijah Ross
>700 songs That’s an average of 60-80 albums m8
