first lol
Wagner did nothing wrong and Ravel is better than Debussy, Beethoven better than Mozart, Bach

>, Bach
so Bach just is?

Asked in the last thread but didn't get any responses:

What are the best recordings of Gregorian chants?

>Beethoven better than Mozart

Give it a chance

youtube.com/watch?v=SIphJyry71U

By Gregorians lfmao

Polyphony > Plainchant

Yes. He stands alone, the GOAT. He beat a bitch, like Chyna did Rob.

it sounds like Radiohead

nigga is dat lil Tray Tray? What he doin' wif dat peetsa. yeah. Beethoven is betta lol

The way I see it Ravel is the Mozart to Debussy's Haydn.

In other words, a lesser, more boring version of Beethoven compared to a literally whofag with a giant cock (pic rel8-ed)

Sounds like Thom Spork in a chastity belt with a pussy hat on protesting Drumpf

Beethoven is more like Messiaen. Its not really better, its just something completely alien and sui generis. Its what's required once the idiom has been perfected. But strictly speaking I'd say its more difficult to perfect than it is to invent.

>But strictly speaking I'd say its more difficult to perfect than it is to invent.
Hmm... idk bout dat

>listening to well-tempered music in equal temperament

hm

When does Brahms get good?

Invention:

youtube.com/watch?v=Cegje3tdCyY

perfection:

youtube.com/watch?v=5AsaCNqfRAE

basically as soon as you pay attention. Everything I've ever heard by Brahms is a banger.

fucking kek what is this pic from.

>music has 10ths and above in

who here /small hands/ ?

Can’t even reach a 9th ;_;

I've been meaning to ask, what is the origin of this image?

>Rach hands
>never learned an instrument

lol hey everyone look at this handlet

desu i stole it from some user who started a /classical/ thread on here a year or so ago

Cello sonata no. 1

I do. I never really noticed until someone pointed them out

Is there something I'm missing with Mendelssohn's quartets?

yes, a brain

Got me.

yfw

Webern > Schoenberg

Prove it.

what's there to prove? Its self evident

That was my way of asking "where to start with Webern"?

then why did you feel the need to state it?

Very good chart.

Anybody doing some interesting Theory things

What do you mean? Like are there any composers developing new theoretical concepts?

What are the best channels on youtube for learning composition from the ground up.

art of counterpoint for counterpoint.
There isn't much in the way of comprehensive "learn composition from the ground up", you're better off reading Schoenberg's Fundamentals of Musical Composition, or studying composition formally.

But I can't read boring old books on internet capable devices user!

en.inkei.net/

As luck would have it, Sam Hyde has kindly made a video series on one of Schoenberg's theory books.

Some Scarlatti for Sup Forums
youtube.com/watch?v=VeeXab_N39s

I'm sure barnes and noble sell some ebooks

It was just a joke. I don't have an e-reader. I'll just have to cuckle down I guess.

If you want to learn boring old composition methods, you will need to read boring old books.

What about "beats" made by Sibelius?

youtube.com/watch?v=jBRH4aU9Hjg

You better not be shitting on the theory that informed over 3 centuries of superlative music m8.

anywhere, you can listen to his entire works in under four hours

for you might as well start with op. 1 though

uh, whomst'dism?

Just shitting on that posters attitude. I personally love old books and theory

That poster was me tho ;^)

Bach's cock is unironically the best size and shape for anal sex.

Yeah, Ligeti knows what's up. I have no idea why French Horn is such a maligned brass instrment when its the only one that doesn't sound like a fart. Well that is, aside from the even more underappreciated Wagner Tuba.

Try the Clemencic Consort. They have a few recordings of medeival lieder.
youtube.com/watch?v=ozMFw1EOid8

That third movement, very pretty.

god those dance moves are so fucking gay

Why do some relatively insignificant countries produce brilliant composers. Thinking specifically of Czechs, Hungarians and Finns.

phenotypes. Czechs are ethnically the same as Austrians.

Browser on my tablet crashed leading to the loss of a massive amount of porn tabs again. Music for this feel?

Depends on what kind of porn.

Yeah, I could see this being a Flying Lotus track with different instrumentation.

milfy glamour stuff. but it just as easily could have been twinky soyboys having rough anal with eachother. I'm something of a connoiseur.

>milfy glamour
Telemann.
>twink soyboys having analsex with each other
Are they crossdressing? If yes Vivaldi, if no Lully.

youtube.com/watch?v=7BaOuXny66Q

Yeah, I think I'll save that one for when my family finds my porn collection.

youtube.com/watch?v=xoktT67FYDI

If that's the case I guess I'm fucked. I'm Lithuanian. The only composer we have is Čiurlionis and he fucking sucks. Whats more is he's more known as a painter.

Nicolai

Do you honestly believe any of these composers are even close to the level of claire boucher ?

idk user but no one even comes close to your level of trolololololololol

no like anyone /comp/ doing something interesting with their theory

that channel is ok at best, he makes too many mistakes and he is teaching composers bad counterpoint

>trolololololololol
did i go back in time to 2012

claire is not a joke!

she's got far more complex music and production than anything you've posted

Thoughts on bernstein?

Everything he would learn, from the books already he posesses. Learned nothing new can be, burn the tree we must

t Claire is talented because she heard a Dildogard song and coppied what happened. Melisma Melisma Melisma. With your logic fucking Hip Hop is fenous when they use a triplet flow over an uncommon time signature

Gay, and trash

a jew

I know it is exciting when mom lets you use the computer but you are posting in the wrong place

faggot and a shit conductor.
ok as a musical composer

Debussy, Faure, Maurice Emmanuel>>>>>>Ravel

>posts copypasta
>calls me underage
No he's okay at classical era stuff but romantic and modern I think hes to gay to do. Olus WSS is trash as is age of anxiety and other things hes written

This soy boy levels of condescension, may I suggest reddit classical?

wrote good books and made good music
not a fan of his conducting work

The Unanswered Question is a compelling read but at the same time almost complete speculation

You have Heifetz though

post the most underrated mozart songs please

What do you guys think of Steve Reich's recent piece Runner?
youtube.com/watch?v=RPefWZnuWqE

In that case wouldn't it be genotypes

Name some brilliant Finnish composers

What is the best neoclassical composer and why is it Hindemith?

Absolutely terrible. He's been writing the same tired shit for decades. Should have just thrown in the towel like 30 years ago. Who here actually likes Reich?

Relative freedom allowed within a country that prized music. Czechs and Hungarians were all part of the Austrian empire for goodness knows how long, and Finns were the most independent part of the European area of the Swedish empire, and later of the Russian empire. This mix of being considerably independent within a larger empire did lead to calls to freedom and a representation of national identity in the Romanticist era while before that rise it allowed them the same tutelage that many others did not - for example, Slovakia, which was part of Hungary then. This is shown in Chopin, Liszt and Dvorak, for example.

Really, it's just history playing a role here. If anything the most surprising thing is the lack of classical music from the Anglos.
