"Stay there! I just lost my starboard engine!"

Can we agree that Red Leader is the most based character in Star Wars 1977?

Accepts his own death because he has faith in Luke to do what he could not. Also quite possibly the best acting performance in the film. (No I'm not joking, rewatch his 5 minutes of film time to see a realistic portrayal of stress, strain and fear)

>implying fucking white males did anything for the rebellion

...

As of 2016, let it be known that the majority of the Rebellion were multiracial freedom fighters until basically the day before the Battle of Yavin (?)

The guys in black with the pilots.....who the hell are they? Foreground, the majority to the right.

Probably support crew

I prefer Manny Both-Hanz

When I was a kid, I thought he was a dick to Red Ten. He wasn't bothered at all that he died.

F

We were shown all the important battles of that war in the OT, and republic command wanted actual best for those missions, not melting pot full of cannon fodder

something I just realized was when Luke says he can't see any new fighters on his scope Red leader tells him to pick up his visual scanning. A.k.a. "Use you're eyes dumbass"

kek

>spotting dark gray fighters moving god knows how fast in fucking space with just your eyes
Fuck Red Leader, because that's some worthless fucking advice. Nignog couldn't even get his torpedoes into the exhaust port.

One doesn't really have the time or luxury to be bothered or grieve for a friend or comrade in the middle of the life and death battle. Luke didn't grieve for Biggs either.

lmfao

That pissed me off ... but in the original release, Biggs had a reduced role ... you would even be mistaken (if you didn't read the books) that Biggs was just a random star-pilot that Luke met at Yavin...

I'm thinking a very smart editor in 1977 took Bigg's scene out of the theatrical release because if the audience knew he was Luke's old pal from Tatooine, the lack of emotional loss displayed after his death by Luke would have seemed wrong.

But Alas, Lucas' autism knows no bounds and so he brought back the Biggs scene for the Special Edition... among other pointless scenes...

>...
>alas

He reprises the role in Rogue One

Probably commanders on the ground giving orders, support crew, etc.. Basically like any real-life Air Force.

mfw I experienced this difficulty first hand playing Rogue Leader on the Gamecube

George did shoot footage of female pilots but cut them out for time.

It won't be long until they fix this unbearable white male problem. If Lucas can add cgi, Disney can add a cast of black people
