It's not really better or worse then western top 40 pop music. The people I see who are really into it either 1. Just really like the attractive Korean girls or 2. Just want to feel different because they are listening to foreign music, but still need it to be familiar, because it takes such huge amount of influence from western pop. If you really like pop music and find k-pop enjoyable then that's 100% alright though.

It's high energy pop music with some great melodies and the uptempo stuff is somewhat less homogenous and more experimental than contemporary Western pop/rap music, that's it. It would be even better if it didn't have those shitty warbly ballads and fender rhodes twinkle crapfests Koreans and fangirls of boybands like (but which Sup Forums would probably love if they were in English considering boring dogshit like car seat headrest is mega popular here)
