I didn't mind the OPness of Rey the first two times I watched it. I don't think it really registered that much. On my third viewing, I'm noticing how she's just so good at everything. She becomes a crack shot with the laser gun after missing once. She literally learns how to jedi mind trick a soldier after failing only two times. This is before she presumably had known about any jedi at all. She had presumably never seen the trick be done, so there'd be no way for her to know it is even possible.
For her to also resist Kylo was a weak.
Then a thought popped into my head. It's something that most likely has already been brought up, but I only just thought of it. What if the reason Rey is so good at the Force is because she was a student of Luke's when she was young? She was among those that were slaughtered during what we see in that flashback after she first touched Luke's lightsaber. She survives. She probably was the only survivor. Then maybe Luke decided to wipe her memory, and leave her on a planet similar to the one he group on...

Bump...
John Brown
people have literally been saying this since the first TFA trailer mate
Joseph Wilson
Wow dude. You are a quick thinker.

Robert Mitchell
Shut the fuck up you faggot. I don't live on Sup Forums theorizing star wars bullshit all day like you do. I've never read even a single SW theory before..
Blake Hill
>Rey, a 6 year old girl is so good at everything as a child Still makes her a Mary Sue
Jaxon Murphy
What did the writers, or Jj for that matter, think our reaction would be?
Maybe the problem is that these movies were intended to bevtrilogies that would explain things in the subsequent installments whereas the originals just put a movie out AND THEN focused on the next film
Mason Kelly
The only way this trilogy ends up skimming the surface of mediocirty is if Rey dies and Kylo is revealed to be the protagonist.
Colton Powell
yes but you did say you only thought of this on your third viewing
most people thought of this on their first viewing of the fucking trailer
Jackson Williams
I find it funny when people go, "It was okay when Anakin did it!" as a response.
Among many things, it was also what made episode one dumb as shit. Podracing, okay. Flying a naboo fighter was too much. By episode 2/3 I'm willing to buy it but the niggas like 7 years old
Joseph Jackson
No it's only if Rey joins the Dark Side, kills Luke and Kylo and she and Snoke rule the galaxy.
>Cut to credits
Benjamin Bell
The only trailer I watched was the original teaser trailer that had Kylo saying, "what is thy bidding my master?" Voice was totally different...
Jace Phillips
I suspect that she was some kind of youngling in Lukes new Jedi order, but was spared and taken to Snoke by Kylo Ren because she had potential (maybe she's Luke's daughter or something). They then trained her enough to have a general grasp of force abilities, implanted her with false memories, and then dumped her off on Jakku. The idea is that if she could survive in such a harsh environment for a decade or whatever, honing her mind and body just by virtue of fighting to live, she would be worthy to complete her training. At some point, they would pick her up, say the magic word that would restore her memory, and she would be a new inductee into the Knights of Ren. Gaining a powerful new ally, and completing their victory over Luke and what's left of the Jedi.
It would kind of explain Kylo's little meltdown when the dude mentions a girl ("WHAT. GIRL?"), and how he later tells her that she needs a teacher.
Andrew Brown
>super powerful student >can be memory wiped
since when did star wars even have memory wipes? what kinda fucking lame dues ex machina soap opera tier writing
Brody Cox
It was in KOTOR, and that's a fan-favorite.
Robert Torres
>I didn't mind the OPness of Rey the first two times I watched it. she doesnt have a penis tho
Nolan Carter
The problem with this is Rey is a little girl when she is dropped off on Jakku, but the part where Kylo Ren kills Luke's students happens 5 years before TFA.
Joshua Edwards
The SJW outrage if she went bad would be glorious
Brody Flores
Revan isn't an insult to fans tho. Rey clearly is on so many levels. Also I only liked Kotor for the background lore and for the fact that it let me be a total edgy asshole. The plot itself was generic Star Wars without the special effects to back it up.
Xavier Kelly
That's not the point. The question was "since when did star wars even have memory wipes?", and I answered.
Colton Nelson
Meh her skills can easily be explained away as "good genes" and midichlorians.
