You know what's ironic about Rogue One? We HAVE to make this movie do amazing at the box office.

Because it will teach Disney that we prefer dark movies where characters die and where the studio has a lot of balls to do things that we would not expect come out of a kid's movie.

Well Ep 7 still wasn't as dark and yeah Rey was badly written and JJ Abrams did no risks at all.
The worst Star Wars movie on my list: not because I hate Kylo or Finn because I like them and the story BUT JJ's cut was so terrible.
Go and read the novelization which helps explain so much more than the hack JJ is as a filmaker.

Um every one in the cast dies, Vader kills rebels in brutal ways.
This isn't just a Disney movie. It is actually a risky movie. Maybe Gareth Edwards said something to Disney which really made them not completely reshoot his movie but someone sure happened at Disney which let them release such a dark movie (with only some minor quips now and then).
