I haven't seen it yet, so I'm taking your word on this, but I'm actually surprised they cut stuff that they went through all the time, money, and manpower to render effects for. I'm actually kind of hoping they do an extended cut blu ray now.
I mean I liked it because it filled in a lot of holes in A New Hope (how did no one spot the gaping flaw in the Death Star, for example) while telling it's own story with it's own characters in a compelling and interesting way
