>4 hour capeshit slogfest with some sex and gore in it

made too similar to the comic book and so the dialogue suffered

It was pretty good. They made all of them too 'super' and the violence too visceral. The only one thats supposed to be superhuman is Doc, the rest shouldn't be able to kung fu 15 mens bones into dust and should've just been regular dudes as per the theme.

nothing

Snyder as always.

>inb4 muh space squid

The opening credits were so good that it was impossible for the rest of the movie to stay at that level.

essential snydercore

too much dick, not enough tits

it was TOO capeshit

remember when Nightowl points and yells at Ozzy? cringe!

Ozymandias, for one thing.

Muh space squid, of course.

Absolutely fucking nothing.

watchmen didn't lend itself to a cinematic adaptation to begin with

it would be awkward to compress it into 2 hrs 40 mins or however long the theatrical cut is

zack snyder is a retard and a music video director. his grasp of the material was poor.

etc. etc.

>What went wrong?

Nothing. A collective of the usual self proclaimed internet know it all's have decided they don't like it, while those who have appreciated it remain content with it have no need to defend it.

Normally some people on the internet formulate their opinions based on other people's opinions, in which some complaints resonate, while others don't. A person's willingness to condemn a film based on such pre-dispositions usually remains unchallenged for those claiming to hate it until they're finally able to allow themselves to view it without manufactured contempt.

It's a good movie, but if you're less open to it or susceptible to negative opinions, you'll probably remain disliking based on those insult you've read which remains your negative opinion passed on by others.

Niteowl

Ozymandias looked nothing like the one in the comic. But from the first time you saw him you knew hes the bad guy.

>while those who have appreciated it remain content with it have no need to defend it
I liked the movie, but I'm not going to say it didn't have problems. A lot of my contention with the movie stems from Synder misunderstanding a lot of character motivation and putting overblown action or violence in scenes that did not need to have overblown action or violence.

Comic book fags, why did Comedian kill Kennedy?

I disagree. I believe those over blown action scenes were there for purpose. I also do not agree that the character motivations were wrong. Mostly what I saw was a movie about a group of heroes similar to Marvel Avengers facing the real question that is the oxymoron of saving humans from their own destruction, violent savage tendency to destroy themselves and becoming the villain in doing that.

It was his job.

...

and who did he work for?

For once, nothing. Movie was good and the change on the ending makes more sense than the squid.

I agree with tho, Oz didn't have the same good guy vibe he gives you in the comic.

Also, Daniel relationship with Hollis Mason could be expanded a bit, or Minutemen for that matter.

Someone who wanted Kenedy dead.

Supposedly he worked for the government, since the heroes were sanctioned to work for the government. They were given the authority to act as police, judge, jury, and executioner all on their own until they were outlawed.

youtube.com/watch?v=YX5672Bn3BY

Fight scenes were fucking ridiculous, silk spectre had crap acting and writing, jer mother had the fakest old-person make-up ever and LEONARD FUCKING COHEN WHY

Still, for people that do not read comics I absolutely recommend this

BAT NIPPLES
FUCKING KINO

Snyder is the worst. He's so good at the visual stuff, but it just makes his shortcomingss in every other field way more obvious. Watching a Snyder movie is so frustrating and maddening.

I still believe Watchmen was his best, better in story, and visuals than most all of his other movies.

This.
Can any other movie even compete with Watchmen opening credits?

there was absolutely nothing wrong with it if you watched the ultimate cut version
it's my favorite comic movie so far and i've pretty much watched every comic book inspired movie within the last 15 years or so

t. insecure nu-male

I prefer The Hunt for Red October.

I too definitely recommend the ultimate cut version. The extra dialogue between the heroes, and extend scenes makes a big difference for me.

The story, and a lot of the visuals, are all thanks to the comic.

And you are just a big ol' meanie :(

nothing really, its a fairly solid film.
Silk Spectre was hot but kind of awful though.
Should of released the directors cut instead of the theatrical also.

I believe it is the Director's cut that is the best. It is the version with longer scenes, and longer conversations.

Nothing, it's easily Snyder's best film

They focused too much on the men and not enough on the watches since, from what I heard, the director was queer.

Snyder's not gay, he just enjoy shooting tastefully lit scenes of buff, shirtless men. Just because he's obsessed with bodybuilding and masculinity doesn't mean that he want's to have gay sex with Henry Cavill. I'm sure you have some outlandish theory to why he removed the underpants from the superman costume. Some sort of latent homosexual urge to strip and bed the man of steel? You, sir, are projecting!

Ozymandias is most assuredly above Human level and is stated to be top tier as fuck multiple times in the comic.

I said he was queer, they paid good money to pray away his gay for now.

Ozy is supposed to be a surprise. He himself in the comic couldn't believe he could stop a bullet until he actually did, it wasn't supposed to be expected because hin general the story takes an absurdist twist near the ending, as if the characters were actually suddenly visiting a comic book world with mutant tigers and shit

Then the movie comes and goes "lol bulletproof glove"

Oh thank God! Do you know what prayer group or program they used? I am asking for a friend.

Didn't respect the comic book creators

The "Hallelujah" sex scene should have been less sexy and more awkward.

Well, okay, it was still pretty damned awkward for me, seeing as I was a minor (at the time) effectively watching softcore porn in a theater with my own mother.

Literally 2nd best capeshit in history after TDK

He actually made Watchmen alongside with Dave Gibbons.

More like 2nd best capeshit in history after The Incredibles.

moore is a faggot and he made the film as closely with dave gibbons as he could

try 3 hours bro.

Fucking nothing.

It was the best capeshit ever made so nothing

Snyder made a movie from something unfilmable.

Many things could have been better, but is very good. I still enjoyed this one 10 times more than any capeshit or SWshit we have to endure nowadays.

nothing

Movies ending > comics ending

Debate me. Protip: don't even try kiddo

Snyder is the only one who had respect for something Moore wrote. I accept that Moore was burned and butthurt for previous experiences, but he should have given a break to Snyder and help him. Ditching Watchmen meant that you just cannot make him happy and is better ignore him.

Watchmen is a deconstruction. You could see a deconstruction as something like a parody that makes you cry instead of laughing (is more than that, I know).
Bat-nipples for a character that has a bit of Bruce Wayne are more than appropriate.

nothing. Snyder is a genius and this film is a masterpiece

I like tentacles.

"philosophically" speaking, movie finale > comic book finale.

My only problem with the movie finale is that the thing should have triggered the Russians vs USA (but there is a setup in the movie to justify that).

In the book, THAT is really 3rd party, so no ambiguity.

completely missing the point: the post

Based Quentin.

It's faithful to the content of the comic but not faithful to its style or atmosphere and is ignorant of its message.

...

I think the movie is fairly faithful to the themes of the comic. And it gets the style down pretty good. The ending is better than the comic. It would benefit from removing most of the music, though. Also, although most of the scenes are pretty good on their own, they don't mesh together very well. Wich only makes the movie worse, in my mind. So much of it is A-OK, but when you connect the pieces it all starts falling apart.

Snyder would make a good cinematographer or a DP or something. Just let someone with an artistic bone in their body handle the directing.

You went wrong. The movie is kino.

>boring ass 5deep7u graphic novel no-one gave one half of a fuck about
>boring ass 5deep7u film on-one gave one half of a fuck about

1/10 try again, perma-pleb.

>hero dies
>Sounds of silence starts playing
is this a fucking spoof movie?

The one improvement the film made over the source material is cutting out all that shit with the pirates

And removing the mutant/alien thing. Framing Manhattan makes a ton more sense.

Nothing. It's great and pretty much the best possible adaptation we could've gotten outside of a miniseries. Obviously the comic is much better.

There's something wrong about the movie that I just couldn't point it out. Is it the Snyder's grimdark style? Is it the weird pacing? Over the top violence? Too actiony? The ending is also incredibly weird compared to the comic.

The DC version is obviously better and more faithful, but not much.

youtube.com/watch?v=YDDHHrt6l4w

Superior version.

Making Watchmen a movie in the first place.

He's a spook, more or less.

>Shoe horning that shitty cartoon into the extended edition without any of the context that made it so memorable in the comic
Theatrical cut for that reason alone.

I really liked the movie but I agree that the ending was weird and left more to be desired.

bad acting mixed into a story that snyder clearly doesn't understand, also really out of place terrible music

snyder didn't understand what the comic was trying to do and he just saw a bunch of c00l c0stumes and copy+pasted the comic onto screen. it really says something about how shit snyder is that he can't even copy and paste a movie without fucking it up.

Absolutely nothing, it's the only capeshit movie I can enjoy.

>Snyder made a movie from something unfilmable.
Part of what makes the comic so great is that it was a self aware meta commentary about the genre itself, with an intricate narrative burried in the story itself. The movie was just capeshit.

Apropos for missing the point: the movie.

For a blue ayy intelligent benisman he was incredibly stupid

i dont know where this 'comic is unfilmable' meme comes from. it's bullshit, it would work completely fine as a mini series.

But we live in a world with batman returns, darkman, and spiderman 2.

>i dont know where this 'comic is unfilmable' meme comes from.
Hollywood, and the decades of shitty scripts trying to adapt it.

youtube.com/watch?v=5oltd-Jsi2I

I suppose. I mean, look at what he done with BvS from The Dark Knight Returns

Nothing, and everything, and only some things.
It's normal for people to have divided opinions about Snyder, it's what he does.

True.

Movie's still shit though.

>From the visionary director of '300'
Gee, I don't know.

Generally its the panels/pages that show less than a second of action coupled with several paragraphs of thought/speech.

But having never read comics, you wouldn't know about those.

Nothing. The problem is mostly that it was a good adaptation that could not do for film what the comic did for comics.

Snyder was arguably the only one who could have made this movie.

I agree.
V for Vendetta was shit and ended being an anti-Bush bullshit Wachowski matrix shit.
And The Killing Joke was a fucking mess.

Only Watchmen was actually close to the source material and good. There are some differences but not enough to make the movie bad. Like Nite Owl seeing Rorschach's death and then attacking Ozi. Or the slow mo sex scenes.

Everything else was well done.

Would watch
