I'm trying to compile a massive list of films to watch

To watch through next year, I guess. I want to go full tilt, with lots of films to watch, and lots of challenging, indie stuff, I think. You can throw out any name, as long as it follows the rules and guidelines below.

1. No works aimed at a mainstream audience. This discounts most of the stuff from Hollywood, as well as most things with guns, explosions, characters with stupid names, zombie attacks, etc.

2. No movies or popcorn flicks, obviously. See above.

3. I would prefer to focus on pan-Eurasian films. You can suggest North American films if you want, but I'd like recommendations of films from France, Germany, Japan, China, etc.

4. No comedies, unless you honestly think they're extremely good.

They can be from any time period, any country, and almost any genre. Also post a short description.

Fuck off.

The Dark Knight
The Dark Knight rises

WHy should I do that? This is a film and TV board, and this is a legitmate thread about films. Would you rather I talked about TV, or better still, the latest superhero "film"?

Trust someone on this board to knock someone who's trying to get into films (even) more.

Anyone? You know the kind of thing I'm looking for.

Here's a guide to some indie and arthouse films. Anyone have any other ideas?

You know, I sometimes wonder how many people left on this board are film lovers. Less than 20%?

...

lynch is some what hackneyed

his movies are fantastically weird

and his atmosphere of his movies the tones are so great

but thats the only thing he does well

his story is shit
>muh corn is muh soul
>souls getted trapped in wood door knob

i think the movies the searchers or red river has done more for cinema then most people realize

king kong 1933 was way more better then anything lynch ever did

you only really watch lynch to try to bang that holier then thou art house hipster

debate me, im right

eraserhead is the worst film i've ever seen in my life

the baby was an aborted fetus from a goat or human

its why he never talks about it

and why it looked very real

it was

>and lots of challenging, indie stuff

holy fuck.

>triggered

M and Bicycle Thieves are both actually good.

La Haine is overrated as fuck.

videodrome

>challenging
>not challenging

I know which I prefer. But yeah, it's a trigger for this board.

Syndromes and a Century (2006)

Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives

watching a film isn't challenging unless you're watching it with your eyes closed.

this is pretty challenging

if you havent seen this masterpiece you are officially a pleb

Songs from the second floor
and
A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence

Neat get, but you're the reason Sup Forums sucks so much. Here we have an user who legitimately wants to get advice to expand his repertoire of film appreciation, and you shit on him. Shame on you, sir.

I have a couple for you, OP.
Andre Rublev
Dear Uzala

Enjoy.

shut up nigga

the problem with making fun of shitty movies like this is plebs like you actually think its good because all you do is watch shit

What is challenging, then? A book? A play?

Not dear ==> Dersu Uzala

>La Haine is overrated as fuck.
How so?

tv is such a shite board now

game of thrones really ruined this part of teh chan

>game of thrones really ruined this part of teh chan
Yeah that's what ruined it

it is

when Sup Forums was a slow board it was immensely better

but you wouldn't know that

fuckin' reddit

Shemale Babysitters #15

>but you wouldn't know that fuckin' reddit
And you say GoT ruined the board and not buzzword using shitposters

do you have a reddit account?

answer honestly

The thing that's ruined this board is the change from films to TV. I mean, people don't talk about films that much here at the moment, and when they do, it's just entry-level shit, and slightly good mid-level stuff. This was the board that got me into arthouse and indie films, but you wouldn't think it.

I do and that's the biggest cop out argument ever.

Good idea

compile a giant backlog of movies you'll never watch. Or dislike because you force yourself to watch them for internet cred and not out of genuine interest.

fucking tryhard

I agree to an extent but it's also the constant amount of people who just say memes or feel like they need to call everyone a "cuck" or "reddit" (because for some reason there's a rivalry, but really is doesn't exist) if they say something they don't agree with.

Boards like Sup Forums or /lit/ got me into a lot of the music I listen to now or had great book recommendations and they actually have discussions and not spam shit.

I used to post on /lit/ and it was pretty good. I left when the board became much slower, plus I had found Sup Forums.

literature is art, films aren't.

t. someone who hasn't watched any good movies.

You can't be serious

Wew interesting.

El Topo
Possession
[2000] George Washington
Cashback
Seven Samurai
Solaris (72)

haven't watched those but they are the next ones i'm my big list (almost 400 movies), i do one every couple of years, this is the third one.

...

>Paul Blart favorite movie confirmed.

Eraserhead was a pile of shit.

I would watch this one last, once you've seen it you can walk away from movies all together, there's none better.

Bicycle Thief is one of my favorites. Also really like Interiors. How pretentious are these on a scale of former to latter?

Human Highway
Ikarie XB-1
Qui ĂȘtes-vous, Polly Maggoo
Wild Style
Style Wars
Downtown 81
To Be or Not To Be (1942)
La Decima Vittima is quite kitsch

And my favorite tvshows:
Raumpatrouille Orion
The Prisoner
Sapphire and Steel

idk but u type like a newfag
