ulcerate
Hey bub
Black Sabbath
richard
this is your dad
My god you're a massive loser.
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath by Black Sabbath was probably the first death metal song
Okay
Most genres of metal is derived from Black Sabbath
Thank you for the insight
cattle decapitation. best death metal band of the past 20 years, and its not close.
# no problem
Carcass, Pungent Stench and Entombed are the best ones
I’ve heard people say that cannibal corpse is overrated, opinions?
Death. I tried listening to other death metal bands, but they don't come close to my love for Death.
Evanescence
(OP) #
Yeah empty words from the album symbolic is kickass
death
gatecreeper
gorguts
morbid angel
cannibal corpse
opeth
immolation
nile
nechrophagist
dying fetus
autopsy
also any reccs based off these bands would be cool thanks
check out Psycroptic
The one and only
i love psycroptic, probably should have included them in the list
stop posing as me, but yes i should have included them
Mithras & Sarpanitum
Just Death and Morbid Angel. Also Opeth if we count them as DM
Is there any technical/brutal/whatever death metal that sounds as organic and fluid as None so Vile? People seem to just hype that for how heavy it is, and for the vocals, but to me it’s how tangible the rhythm section is driving the rest of the noise instead of the riffs
Gorguts is probably the closest it gets
My niggas
It's fun if you want to turn off your brain and just enjoy the riffs, there's not much pretension there, it's just dumb and fun
Death Metal is a genre where the entry level band (Cannibal Corpse) is also the best band
i fig'd as much (cuz that list), but just in case you hadn't
Nah, they're token DM. i think monstrosity with corpsegrinder (or without) is better
What are some albums that live up to their cover-arts?
they're the most middle of the road, meat and potatoes DM band ever. so, they're overrated by those who think they're special, and underrated by those who think they're bad. The Bleeding is quite solid
Master of puppets without a doubt
Personally Deeds of Flesh, Nile, Disgorge (the one from Mexico), Autopsy, Devourment, Pyrrhon
Gatecreeper
Did you start a thread inside a thread
Also killing is my business
...
They were a gateway for me, but after the years The Bleeding is about all I care to listen to all the way through anymore. I do enjoy their Zero the Hero cover even though the whole "make this song more death metal" approach usually turns me off.
My favorite album lately
THE CHOPPED IN AAAAUUUUUGHHH!!!!
How can you like Gorguts and Ulcerate, but also turd bands like Necrophagist and Obscura? Listen to Timeghoul, Artificial Brain, Demilich and Atheist.
Death metal didn't, nor did thrash.
Timeghoul, Infester, Nocturnus, Morbid Angel and Possessed are the first ones I could think of.
CC is a snore fest, if you want something brutal check out Infester and early Suffocation, you can even go with Benediction, Morpheous Descends and Incantation.
Try Infester and Suffocation.
GO
Never knew Richard was a good drummer
For anyone wanting to get into death metal, check out pic related.
Fuck me for not mentioning it sooner, Deicide's Legion is one hell on an album and might be exactly what you're looking for.
Why is death metal so tonal and boring all the time?
Which songs/bands specifically?
Literally all of it except the stuff that is actually grindcore, they're basically nursery songs with guitar distortion and screaming. They should have taken a page from noise music and moved to sonorism already.
>literally all of it
Maybe death metal just isn't for you. I dig it a lot, especially old school bands like early Obituary or Bolt Thrower because they satiate my need for something primal, relentless and visceral.
>omething primal, relentless and visceral.
But that is precisely what it's not, they're all basically running scales up and down. The only appealing thing about death meal is the production (which is very punchy and full), which in turn is lacking in noise music and in grindcore etc.
What I really want is noise rock with punchy meal production I guess.
How is it not that?

If you want noise rock with punchy meal production, shouldn't you be looking deeper into grindcore and black metal instead?
Artificial Brain is equally as shit
Grindcore and black metal generally has terrible production just like noise music. Black metal is also incredibly boring tonal music just like death metal.
I take it you already tried war metal like Blasphemy, Revenge, Archgoat and the likes?
Artificial Brain is far from being tech wank with clicky drums.
Not familiar with any of those nor "war metal"
>What I really want is noise rock with punchy meal production I guess.
Honestly I hope you're not thinking about bands like Big Black and related. Because that's literally also "nursery songs with distortion".
Bad production, too linear.
No, I want shit like Foot Village, Blowhole, MoHa!, Flying Luttenbachers etc.
It should be as angular, sonoristic, percussive etc. as possible
Vital Remains - Dechristianize
Sixpence None the Richer
Pyrrhon is pretty good so far
