It has the same problem I see with a lot of music critics' musical projects, which is that it has all the qualities that would earn it musical respect, while remaining completely unlikable. There's nothing genuine about it, just syncopated rhythms and a booming bass that make me think Fantano thought by mixing the "experimental" instrumental parts of NoMeansNo, Slint, Big Black, Lightning Bolt, sludge metal, etc. he will gain SOOO much respect, and who cares that only 10 people "get it?"
