I saw someone complaining now long ago during the bethesda conference that the man races in Elder Scrolls are different races like a black race, a nordic race, a Breton race and the Imperials (as well as a few others in the lore but not in the games). He said it was wrong and some Nords should be black etc.

It's insulting to think that a fantasy world with medieval sensibilities would have "civic nationalism" (for sub-regions of a unified empire), and that racial diversity would exist in stability within such a "civic" nationality.
