>Watch Kiki's Delivery service >Actually enjoyed it
What does TV think of Japanese animation movies? Always thought that anime was shit, that's why I never got the courage to watch films like this, despite being highly acclaimed.
Does anyone know any enjoyable movies like this that aren't weebshit?
>really dont care for anime at all, have seen spirited away and liked the meme for a while but that's about it >only friend has some weeb tendencies and she tried to get me to watch shows like attack on titans and stuff but I couldn't be arsed >even DBZ as a kid when all my old friends liked it I was like eh >weeby friend shows me Tokyo Godfathers >it was kinda kino I liked how it wasn't really magical fantasy and was kind of a story that could happen, innit? Like I connected more with it. Really the only nicest bit of anime I've ever seen but a graphic artist coworker of mine says Akira is a must watch regardless of animation tastes but then again he told me Taken 2 was good fuckin hell
Cooper Martinez
All of Studio Ghiblis films. Kiki is unmatched though, nothing quite like it desu.
Cooper Martin
try pompoko. It's a fantasy-documentary on the life of shapeshifting tanuki
James Allen
This. The large majority of Ghibli's films are excellent, and definitely worth watching. My personal favorite is Only Yesterday.
Pom Poko is one of their worst films though.
Parker Lewis
>All of Studio Ghiblis films
Pretty much this. Actually, anime films in general are more worth watching than anime televsion series I find.
Some outside of Ghibli worth noting: Girl Who Leapt Through Time, 5 Centimeters Per Second, Akira, Ghost in the Shell
All maintstream in the anime community, but worthy.
Tyler Rivera
Are movies like this really considered anime? I remember some kind of meme with the photo of Miyakazi (or whatever his name is) with a quote that says "anime was a mistake", was that true or purely a meme?
Ethan Thompson
It's a good kino but not as good as pic related
Henry Bennett
>He doesn't know about Studio Ghibli >TV
This is much lower than reddit-tier, telling you to go back would probably be a compliment in your your case, hell, you might not even know what reddit is
Xavier Miller
Whisper of the Heart, Only Yesterday, Ocean Waves, Millenium Actress are what you're looking for
The Garden of Words is must watch also, can't recommend it enough, first half is one of the most beautiful pieces of anime ever
There's also the realistic but quite melodramatic Nitaboh
Your choice
Jaxon Ross
What movie?
Is this promotional art or does the entire movie look like this?
Mason Mitchell
Metropolis is fantastic
Sebastian Harris
I think anime refers to the "tv shows" rather than the full-length motion pictures.
Benjamin Carter
Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
Connor Ward
Nausicaa of the valley of the wind
think that was a poster. the movie looks like this.
Kayden Johnson
studio ghibli is god tier, after watching pic related I binge watched like 5 miyazaki films and they were all almost or equally as heartwarming as Spirited Away
William Rogers

Caleb Martin
Ghibli is nice but it's very conventional, the biggest appeal being that the films are gorgeous
"True anime" are TV series, animation film from Japan is technically anime too, but the spirit is different desu
Grayson Gutierrez
This. This the whole thread.
You guys HAVE to be like 15-19, but at least you're broadening your horizons.
Nathan Reed
>All these faggots talking about chinese cartoon movies made by Miyazaki >Nobody mentions the true animekino master
Joseph Davis
Watch more movies before you post faggot
James Ortiz
Miyazaki is superior, only edgy redditors disagree
Gavin Fisher
Why the fuck is Howl's Moving Castle considered the worst Miyazaki movie?
It has an imaginative story, interesting characters, astonishing visuals and top-notch animation, like most of his beloved movies.
What is there to hate? I just don't get this meme.
William Bell
This

The Wind Rises should be with n°8
Adam Campbell
They both make great movies in their own way, stop being such an edgelord
Ethan Thompson

Kiki's is one of the best. Ponyo is also one of my favorites

>Pom Poko is one of their worst films though Strongly disagree with that, but even their "worst" film is worth watching
Nathan Hernandez
Nausicaa is one of my least favorites from Ghibli. I can't put my finger on why, but it feels less substantial than it needed to be. I've heard that the manga is better, but I don't care for comics
Jaxson Cook
End of Evangelion.

Watch The Castle of Cagliostro. Pure fun, and in a more perfect world we'd have our current adventure and action movies as creative and animated as that. youtube.com/watch?v=oxbum3is6G0
You can try and refute it, but you won't be able to

They basically took the massive story of the manga, then cut 90% of it away and tried to make a new movie out of it. It's really disappointing to watch if you actually know the source material.
Hunter Johnson
Millennium Actress is my favorite anime movie. It just as well could have been a life-action movie.
Kevin Green
Space kino.

Princess Kaguya is the pinnacle of anime. It is kino made by the gods.
