What went so fucking WRONG!!

What went so fucking WRONG!!

It was kino.

>tfw no Rachel McAdams gf

It wasn't 100% vince vaughn the whole time, big mistake.

>implying Vacaro wasn't perfect
>trailers show a masked guy about to do horrific shit 'shhhing' the camera
>its Vacaro
>the whole time, caring for his fat, possibly not-son
>ends up succeeding, only to fuck up and get caught
>that epic redwood chase
>"Good bye son, I love you."

>SEND FAILED

i loved the whole tiny super corrupt city shit and it really had it's moments but damn vince vaughn and the lack of fukunigga really hurt it

didnt show rachel mcadams sexy bum bare!!

That one shootout was impressive. Otherwise it felt like it got pulled in too many directions at once.

OK, rich people doing a sex cult. But they're also stealing railroad land. But they're also fans of throwing Vince Vaughn in the desert and Colin Ferrell in a redwood forest. Oh and there's a casino and a dirty city government. And also a spree killer and some shenanigans in an abandoned subway system.

It was not a sex cult.....

The corrupt mayor's son and the Russian Mafia were running a professional whore house that was a front for shady deals such as the whole railroad project, for corrupt businessmen, the mob, and politicians to get rich off of.

A major side plot of the whole season was the fact that the Russians tortured/murdered one of their whores that they caught scheming to blackmail the rich and powerful men that attended the sex club.

who are you quoting?

Season two would have worked much better had they been upfront that the show was shifting genres and that season two would be Ellroy/LA Quartet noir and not cosmic horror and shilled this fact non-stop in the lead-up to the season premiering.

Also, they should have spread out the info-dump backstory around episodes 3-6 and not waited until the seventh episode to basically explain the whole point of the season

it should have been this

the only good part is the bar scene in episode 1

It's pretty simple: the writing. Especially the dialogue.

Colin Farrell is such a good actor, he almost made that shit work.

I wanted a shoggoth or something, but I got vince vaurghne

...

See, overall that feels like a lot of things. Season 1 was a dark buddy cop flick with a series of set pieces adding up to bayou spookiness. Two characters and basically one Big Thing.

I see what season 2 was doing with a four person cast, but giving each of them some angle and enough material to work with meant a lot more shit to keep track of.

I'm not quoting anybody, I'm naturally this autistic.

It gave us Vince-posting and nothing else but sympathy for Velcro.

Too many main characters, the storyline wasn't coherent enough and felt generally less interesting compared to S1, generic setting, no interesting non linear narrative like in S1, no fukunaga, weak art direction.

Everythint

the people involved in making season 1 a success (Harrelson, McConaughey, Fukunaga) all left

This. Poor Vince had so many clichés crammed into his lines, he never stood a chance. I feel sorry for all of them because S1 was such a big hit that they probably thought they were on to a sure thing.

>Poor Vince had so many clichés crammed into his lines

That's the whole point of his character, for fuck's sake. Trying (badly) to present a character that he is not.

Season 1
>directed by one guy
>written by one guy
>was good
Season 2
>lets get rid of old director
>lets get a different director for each episode

LMAO what could go wrong, right?

Directing and camera work of half of the season 2 episodes was butchered beyond saving in editing or with reshoots.
Writing took a huge nosedive but not as much as the directing of the second season which was often competently incoherent and with very little continuity. I know that some series do this, especially have someone else direct pilots and t works, but here it just fell flat on its face.
Dont change a formula that works.

Whether it was intentionally bad or unintentionally bad is irrelevant. It was bad writing.

>hating on the god warrior

It didnt need a second season.

I thought season 2 was good desu. Yeah 1 was better but it will still good. Is there a 3rd season ever?

No 2spooky4u elements like the first season

>In July 2016, HBO head of programming Casey Bloys confirmed plans for a potential third season, stating, "It is not dead. I talked to Nic about it and both Nic and HBO are open to another season. I don't think Nic has a take and he's working on some other projects. We're open to somebody else writing it and Nic supervising it. It's a valuable franchise, it's not dead, we just don't have a take for a third season yet."

You got a good take in mind, Sup Forums?

It was written by the pretentious manchild known as Nick PizzaLatte. S1 was all luck and relied entirely on the charm of Louisiana and Mathew McCoughney or however it's spelled
