you know he actually had to do speech training to RETAIN his goofy accent
That's like saying Herzog's voice is a problem, it's part of who he is desu
he spoke better english before he became a movie star:
It's pretty weird to hear him talk so clearly. I wonder if he really did and that's just how he talks now or if in public appearances he just puts on a heavier accent because it's what he's associated with.
He considers the accent part of his persona and one of the reasons for his success so he wants to keep it. He talked about it in an interview once.
Makes sense I guess. Without the accent he'd just be another white strongman who can't act. There's a zillion of those in LA.
There are certain things you can't learn past a certain age.
If Japs aren't exposed to the English language before they turn 1 years old, then they would have not heard the letter "L" enough to be able to ever comprehend it. It is why so many Jap's that speak English pronounce "L" as "R" - "Herro" instead of "Hello", they literally can't hear the difference.
Same as English speakers can't hear the difference between certain Indian or Mandarin sounds.
We learn so much as a neonate, and it shapes what we are forever able to perceive.
Old dogs can't learn new tricks basically.
...
how do you pronounce the L in english, especially at the end of a word?
it's confusing as fuck.
None of your FUCKING business.
Its because they pronounce R the same way we pronounce L.We push our tongue against the top of our mouth, the difference is they push their tongue further back into the mouth than we do and thats where they get their R sound from.
Try it
I refuse to believe that it is impossible for them to distinguish/make these sounds. More difficult maybe.

I'm trying to learn japanese and it's fucking IMPOSSIBLE to do their R sound.
Like a mix of L R and D.
It's fucking impossible and I can't tell the difference between their R sound and their D sound.
FUCK REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
It's a cognitive thing. Some people will get it, some won't. They have to conscious of it and condition themselves to always recognize it.
I'm not familiar enough with Japanese to know what the issue is with that sound but he's right in saying that some sounds in Hindi and other languages are difficult for English speakers to even differentiate, because as speakers of English we don't need to differentiate between them, so we just never learn to. It's possible that might happen for some sounds in English for people who speak other languages. Not impossible as you could learn how to with enough training, but without any training you probably wouldn't.
I'm not sure how true the story is but I've read something before about when people from America first went to Japan that the Japanese people there named a brand of flour (or something similar) "Merica" because they couldn't hear the initial "A" as it's pronounced.
Guess I am giving up on trying to learn a new language then, too old for everything at this point
Who is our generations's Schwarzenegger/Stallone?
That's bullshit though. Neuroplasticity.
The Rock
Has nothing to do with age, some peoples' brains are just really really good at learning foreign languages and even achieving fluency, and some just aren't.
If you only know one language by the way, a good way to get good at a second language is to also learn a third and fourth. Stretch and train that brain, go deep faggot.
NORDICS ARE A RACE OF INTELLECTUALLY INFERIOR VIKINGS

Action star with an impenetrable accent?
Jason Statham.
Yeah, he's talking shite. It's definitely harder, and they need some practice to get good at it, but it's only "impossible" if they put zero effort in. It's equivalent to saying that someone can speak English for a couple of years but still have difficulty when writing things like too and to, or knot and not. Babies have issues with spelling, big whoop.
>became gov
>cant speak english properly
>he's immigrant
but wait hes white, it's o.k.
Aiden Gillen/Tom Hardy

Some people are autistic savants, you mean.
You learn a language fastest after maturity. There are minor differences between people in terms of speed, but you can either make up for it in determination, or just live with the fact it's going to take you an extra 6 months to get where you want to be, it's hardly the end of the world.
Learning more than 2 languages is a total waste of time, and would only be recommended by a braindead ESL who is mad that his parents denied him English fluency.
You kinda sound like a life loser 2bh.
