Do you even remember high school physics? Force divided by surface area equals pressure. Increase the surface area of the strap on your shoulder and it decreases the pressure on your shoulder. Wide straps are simply more comfortable and therefore better because of this.

Yeah. LP Standard Pro has coiltapping and Probuckers instead of the standard Alnico the Standards have. I had a Standard on order and they lost my deposit and cancelled it so they cut me a deal on something else.
I ended up getting this $720 guitar brand new for $550 plus some free accoutrements like a hardcase, stand, and strap.
