Foreign Food

What is your favourite foreign food?
My favourites are Curry with cutlet, Ramen and Sandwich. Today's lunch was Ramen ($5.7) at
my favourite Ramen shop.

WTF LOS might be the most amerindian country

Never seen the food in pic1 at any Indian restaurant. Looks like Japanese curry

Also pre sure sandwiches aren't endemic to England, and that those triangular cut sandwiches have more basis in France if anything

Triangle sandwiches are quintessentially Anglo.

That curry with cutlet looks fantastic, do you have a recipe? I want to make it so badly.

Hi guys, here you go

I found that "Grill Swiss" in Ginza, Tokyo, developed curry with pork cutlet ( Schnitzerl) in 1947

thanks, I'll definitely try it this weekend

I'm a complete sucker for Georgian food.

Ramen is Japanese.

Yeah what the actual fuck? We don't actually eat that much corn compared to wheat and rice do we? They must be counting high fructose corn syrup.

I'm not familiar with Georgian food, at all. Tell us about it.

lots of other things use corn like chips, cereal, anything with corn starch, corn bread, etc.

Stop eating ramen bro they have carcinogens

You're going to get cancer. I had to stop eating them too

Close tie up between chicken tikka masala (india) and poulet roti / fondue (france)

My two favorite dishes are the classic khachpuri and lubio.

Khachapuri is a cheese bread, but it's mana from on high. I don't honestly know if it's the cheese they use or the technic they do to make it but it's one of my favorites. Sometimes it has an egg on top like picture related.

Lobio is a bean dish with beans, coriander, walnuts, garlic and onion. There are warm and cold versions but I've only had hot. It's just wonderful.

I know there are two Georgian places in helsinki, but in America it's a bit harder to find. I've heard DC has a decent Georgian population, and I know sometimes Russian places are actually run by Georgians who make it sometimes.

Chicken tikka masala is British, man.

>They must be counting high fructose corn syrup
Well its made from corn and I assume its in your foodstuff.

It's Indian / British dude. Without the british raj or brit colonization it wouldn't exist - sure - but you can easily say it wouldn't exist without India either

That looks absolutely delicious! Are you Georgian? Are you able to find georgian restaurants in Finland? I ask since I have yet to see one either in the states or during my extended stays in EU

my pleasure. i hope you'll cook delicious one. good luck. when i was in DC, i went to Wegman to buy Japanese curry "House" & "SB".

you might be right. Ramen originally came from China and then changed to Japanese style with soy sauce, miso and tonkotsu like Sushi changed to Calfornia and Philadelphia rolls.

Only the sandwich is really foreign, out of all those. Curry is from India, but the curry served in Japan today is different. Rāmen originated in China, but again, the dish served in Japan is not the Chinese dish.

What you're doing is a bit like Americans calling pizza with ham and pineapple "Italian" food. Yeah, pizza comes from Italy, but the pizza we usually eat isn't really Italian. Authentic Neapolitan pizza restaurants exist here, but are uncommon and considered kind of a luxury.

I'm actually an American, but I visiting Finland to see my girlfriend's family. Outside of Helsinki I've never heard of Georgian food.

Sometimes you'll find it in Russian restaurants because Russians also love the stuff (I've heard Russians compare Georgian food to American's love of Mexican food).

Curry was actually introduced into Japan from the British Royal Navy assisting in the reformation of the Japanese Navy
Even to this day, the Japanese Navy has Curry Night on the same night that the Royal Navy does

So after being adapted twice (at a bare minimum) Japanese Curry is really different from Indian Curry

OP is fucking gaijin.

English food is like cavemen art. It remains interesting.

i'm sure it's delicious and i love it. it looks like Chicken Karaage curry for me :)

>someone actually found a finnish gf

British Breakfast..

>Oh it's so uptighty.

You're right. We appreciate British curry. So far as
I know, Admiral Togo studied in UK and loved Beef
Curry and Beef stew so much, so that he brought both
back to Japan. However chef mistook Beef stew and it
changed to Nick Jaguar which is one of popular
Japanese menu:)

What is the Nick Jaguar? how is it different from beef stew?

The only Chinese about the Ramen are the style of Noodles.

post hand

...

Our national curry dish is with veal and fruit

Though I make it with chicken or pork myself as baby cows are too cute to eat :/

>riz.jpg

Are from west switzerland? Geneve?

Looks absolutely delicious and now im hungry

...

I'm German-speaking, maybe it originated there idk

Galician food is dope,I appreciate Catalan rabbit based dishes,Extremadura's hams and chorizos are great ,Castilian asados are excellent and the cold soups from the Andalucia are neat.Anyother foreign food is pretty meh in my eyes.

In my country, we call Niku-Jaga (pronunciation
is similar to Nick Jaguar). Niku and Jaga mean
meat and potato, respectively. After UK study,
although General Togo tossed a recipe of British
Beef stew to a chef, the chef couldn't image what
were Tomato and Brown sauce so that he used
Soy sauce, Mirin, Sake and Japanese bouillon
instead of them:)

Looks like delicious. I'm sure many kids love yours
because I love it so much when I was kid:)

leave finland

Eh... too many too list.

Japan - Tonkotsu ramen, nigiri sushi (Americanised sushi can die in a fire)
Chinese - Mapo tofu (must actually be spicy and use Sichuan pepper), Sichuan spicy boiled fish
Thai - Green curry (bonus points for using Thai eggplant)
Indian - Roti
Sri Lankan - Various curries (better than Indian)
French - Coq au vin, Bouillabaisse, baguettes, various pastries/petit four
Italian - Pizza, pasta, espresso
Spanish - Seafood paella (more seafood the better)
German - Bratwurst, weisswurst, other wurst (best with sides including mustard and sauerkraut)
Murria - Burger

That's not even true. La mien is hand pulled. Ramen is cut.

I went to Madrid and Barcelona in this March.
After business trip, I buy Paella Bento or
Spanish Bento sometimes. I'd like Spanish
government to sell real Paella Bento in Japan,
please!

Memes aside, Mexican food is the best one. Maybe Peruvian and Turkish come close.

>be amerifat
>drink 2 gallons of corn everyday

En. Suomi on uusi kotini.

I love some of American food. I eat one of these every two weeks. Locomoco is easy to cook and delicious! It's good for a busy and/or tired day.

french cheese

80% of food in the middle aisles of the grocery store has a corn product in it. Xanthan gum for instance is a common thickener and it is a corn product. It's in sriracha even

These both seem to be really underappreciated by foreigners. Good call man.
